seeing as I just got offered a new job starting in March. The Grand Canyon will be in my backyard, so on my days off I'll get to slap on the backpack and hike all over the canyon.

Every second of everyday. Sick of routine. so when everytime I get the chance, friends and I just one day will start hiking and won't come back for weeks. I'd like to do it all of the time. But... Yeah... You know how shit goes

I don't know. I think I have too many responsibilities to just up and leave, but I do up and leave the responsible way ;)

I transfer to another state and move. It satisfies my wanderlust without me feeling like I'm being irresponsible (whatever that means)

i'd get a free puppy to keep me company, invite along my dad, brother, and boyfriend and friend, load up the little saturn (40+ mpg-great trip car) with nonperishables, clothes, some toiletries, laptop & prepaid phone, camping gear, plus money i'd been tucking away for awhile, and just start driving until i came to a pretty place. then i'd spend as long as i wanted there, meeting people, trying things. if i felt like leaving i would get back in the car and repeat...just be a drifter, here one day, gone the next. should i run out of money, i'd find cash-paying jobs and stay around for long enough to build up enough to ramble once again! sounds like HEAVEN, but it'll probably never happen.

Once I finish my school in May, there won't be anything holding me back. Probably work for a few months to find my ship, and sail.

Not at the moment, but in time. How soon are you wanting to set sail?

Why not just buy a NJ Transit bus? That'd be cool.

well exploring is one of those things that really do gratify. but i don't have extra $, or even almost hardly any nonextra. and trying to hitch is just too damd anxiety generating. otherwise i'd already be out there doing it. as i did a little of a couple of times in the past. i wish there were more places with silent little trains and no automobiles and i was living in one.

i think if i had the price of doing so, i'd probably have a higher priority of trying to create such a place or places. then if there were more places like that, like i really think there can and will be, when the oil runs out and 'bablon colapsis' and all that, well then i think it would be really cool, to just do a lot of walking if there wasn't a way of doing anything else, or riding the little trains where i could, and THEN just wander arround and explore everywhere all the time like i do a lot of in my dreams.

i don't see a big vehicule that takes a lot of gas as freedom. but if i could and were doing that, and i've thought about something a little bit like that too, like grey rabbit and green tourtous, and just going allong picking up everone who wants a ride and having like a donation basket to pitch in on gas and the rest of the costs of keeping it going and where we went next would be wherever whoever we picked up was trying to get to.

but i think those days are almost past with oil equaling blood the way it does now. unless we could be powered with batteries and solar chargers and stuff like that.
which would probably mean having to design something specificly from the ground up, and then if that was done the next obstical would be getting it allowed on the road.

but slapping a pack on my back, with whatever i needed to survive and at least some of my amusements to play with. well nothing really has to be other then something to keep warm to sleep in. i've done that carrying a space blanket in a coat pocket.

yah there's a lot of different ways of doin it and i've done some of em. i don't think the rainbows existed yet then when i was doing that, this was in the 70s, but the spirit was there.

i wish that was the kind of world we were already living in, and i'm pretty confident someday it will be, and partly, though not entirely, because of people doing it as if it already were.

there are some things we can just do and that's good.
there are other things, and some of the same, that we can do that can and will make that kind of world, and that's even better.

how about that we don't all go any one way, but that we all go with mellowness? with that freedom of the beauty of diversity in our hearts?

i think, isn't that the whole point, of going?

that we do go lightly though. mindfully. catious to avoid leaving worse then we find, but with a lightness not bogged down by the need to be.

We should all ride together .. like 30 of us, on freestyler's. ;) Ever go off trail with a bike? ouch ... Once I went down this hill, and I flipped off the bike. Was still not as bad than when I fell off on the pavement :p Bikes are fun. It's pretty fast, but not really, good exercise, more fun than walking, but BAD for hitch hiking. You'd be limited to only targeting trucks.
