  5. I do that all the times with my friends and the backpack is the only thing I'm wearing. Oh, and sneakers, too..

I always have a destination/itinerary in mind - the top of a 14er in Colorado, out on a Friday afternoon, back on a Sunday morning in the Davy Crockett Forest, out for a few days in the Davis Mountains of West Texas for example.

Something I wanted to do for years, along with a bicycle tour, AT, PCT, CDT, etc...
Something happened along the way with my plans. One day a pretty young gal crawled into bed with me and said, in her most seductive voice, "Honey, the rabbit died...." and that was that.

Arthritic joints, etc came with it all, and all those plans fell by the wayside. Now I think: "Sometimes you just gotta' have another plan!"

I am more apt to shorter excursions - I take walks. There's a track at a nearby park where 3 laps makes a mile. It's not the traditional quarter-mile track. I walk at shopping centers as well; though when it's crowded I do more dodging and less walking. :p

Take what I can strap on my bike and ride away.
Would need to support myself on the road somehow. plus health insurance. Big hurdle. Would need to pick up work.
    It's doable.
I follow a guy on YouTube that's lived off his bike since the 90s.

I've backpacked in the past for many miles.
Really nice to get way from the hustle and bustle of society.

One time I lost the trail and got kidnapped by some boy scouts while I was hiking overnight alone on LSD.
    But that was awhile ago.

Me too, the food is always my number one interest when I travel. And I'm not really interested in fancy, expensive restaurants. I like authentic, family owned hole in the wall places, and I like making friends with the people who work/own these places.
