violence against people? or property? I'm against harming other human beings as well.... but property is just material possessions. I'm not against destroying tools of oppression, whatever they may be.
than you'll be ignoring the fact that those 'tools of oppression' are closely connected to the people that use them. in fact those tools of oppression are only tools of oppression because they are used as such. no one ever invented cameras to turn our world into a police state, no one ever invented the media to keep us dump, no one ever invented consumer society to worn our environment. they have been invented and introduced to society to be of a benefit and only because of lack of understanding the slowly destroy our planet
No they have been manipulated and misused for profit without consideration of what would benefit the society and the environment the most. Money has the microphone, so all the other little voices get drownd out. That's why we have lobbyists and so many ex-politians fall into that career after leaving public office. Why there are no serious revisions to campaign financing laws. Our planet is not going to be destroyed, but our society may end up in the dumpster. I have to mention though that blind consumerism only does one thing...it's a sell out. The shop til you drop thing serves only one ruler...money. It serves neither the consumer, environment or society. It's just stuff...stuff you can't take with you. Stuff that loses it's luster when it breaks or becomes dust encrusted from non-use, stuff that enables the wealthy to own you. It's gluttony.
of course money has had to much power and it still has, but i think more people are realizing we can not go on with this than people we know of. you don't need to be on this forum to be consious about what is happening to the planet and there has been a lot more coverage on how serious the negative side effects of blind consumerism actually are than ever before. i put my hope in that and i hope that people all around the globe will strive to make something better. and as i said before, there are more people out there doing something to change the system than you and me know of. just lets join instead of talking about revolutions on the internet, that's just useless and makes you radicalize more than is reasonable. you'll have to understand that no one wants to listen to radicals. in the west hardly anyone wants to know of the islam anymore. why is that? because just a few muslim fucktards decided they wanted to blow up some buildings in the west.
the thing is....the sixties have passed and the baby-boomers from that generation have grown....this is just my observation..gardener you are one of the exceptions...40 odd years ago my father and his friends were hell bent on changing the world radicals trying out commune life, free more-or-less economy, and fucking everyone in sight......now......fuck......now they wear suits to work are rich as fuck and talk about how foolish they were as kids. IMO the world has in a way givin up on revolution, only cares about the individual and the individuals accomplishments and I wish it were different I really do I live by example but even if everyone on hipforums were to collaberate in making a visible change I doubt it would work not that I dont have faith and am not optimistic but it will take not just our nation but the whole world..............and the worlds whole has a different take even if a couple million good open-minded people think otherwise..sorry bout that rant peace to everyone
I think we just got to busy to worry about things. Yeah and some thought they coul;d use the markets to benefit, and they probably did. I wondfer if they ever thought about what would happen to their kids or grandkids. Yeah now it's going to take a whole new thinking on a worldwise basis. And as to the sex angle, during the sixties, none of the stuff going on then was forever, antibiotics cured all of the shit going on then...stuff today is forever. It has nothing to do with being open minded, it has more to do with holding your elected officials accountable. How many promises have they come acrossed for you. I think the 4.08 a gallaon fuel prices, which is were gas is here in my part of California, proves they've sold out. They hold our minimum wages down, why can't they hold down our utilitity rates? Most working people went over 12 years without a raise, but guess what you will be more willing to pay whatever for higher fuel prices...you won't even ask why...you'll buy into the old junk that we are running out of oil...how is that when wells keep being capped. But how can the working man pay 4.08 a gallon to get to work, when he only makes 10.00 per hour, or less. Is the US now the newest 3rd world nation?
Hardly. Third world is when there is no gas for sale, and it doesn't matter because no one owns a car anyway, and there are no jobs to drive to if you did. When things reach this point then we might see a new revolution.
we must keep the peace and not become those that we a attempting to remove but remove them from the lead we must. thefirst theng that must happen is to change the mind set of I want theirfore I will get to I need that and that is all that I will get. one must not attempt to collect but one must attempt to live free and happy.
I have the answer. turn off the computer turn off the tv turn off the phone turn off the radio turn off the electricity sell your car give up all material posesions go out side and say hi to your neighbor make a jam session with some people plant a garden help a stranger take a walk stop consuming and start living if we all do this then they wont have any power over us nor will they have any money to run their harassment of us. look for me I will be on the road after july 1 2008 I have doneall of the above. The Emerald Tablet gave me the answers. good bye Canna Rev One Staff One Bag One Change of Clothes.
If by "revolution" one means a violent coup by a well armed, well organized minority I hope it never happens. The idealization of "revolution" is caused by the misconception that all the serious problems can be solved easily if only the "ruling class" is removed from power. When it comes to the ideal society, Western European social democracy is as good as it gets. It can be much worse than that. I would like for most Americans to think more like most Europeans on economic and environmental issues, but that will not take a revolution. It will take an evolution of values in tens of millions of individual Americans.
Precisely. If another false flag attack (like 9/11) happens, more people will be awakened to what it's really about. Nobody will buy the "Muslims did it" line nearly as much as with 9/11. And with revolution, hopefully we're talking about non-violent direct action.
never gonna happen. theres not even a real precedent for when it first happened. you could cite the american revolution, but it only took 13 years for them to take back power. only reason we won that one was cus we borrowed money off of opressor A to throw off oppressor B, then once we succeded in that, we borrowed money off oppressor B to pay back oppressor A, then they both came and changed all our laws. all other 'democratic revolutions' were just modeled after our bullshit system. not sure if there was ever a succesful revolution in the history of man, maybe a few lucky accidents, possibly the 'exodus' story in the bible. there aint gonna be no revolution, so dont wait for one, even if there was one it wouldnt help, all you can do is make changes within yourself, free your minds, thats where revolution begins and ends.
I partly agree with you on the first - anarchism is the best way: no god, no master. Living in Britain I disagree with you on 'social democracy' - it's virtually dead here (it was just a holding operation to preserve capitalism post-WW2. Anyway, capitalism is the immediate problem and authority the ultimate problem.
I share your dislike for capitalism. Unfortunately, during the twentieth century socialism was a disappointment. It was a popular ideal. Nevertheless, the popularity was exploited by evil dictators like Joseph Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, Adolf Hitler, and others, and the ideal was betrayed by them. In no representative democracy did the electorate vote to establish a socialist economy. Social democracy may not seem very exciting in Great Britain. Nevertheless, I prefer what exists in Great Britain to the economic cruelty that prevails in the United States. There must be authority because not everyone will choose to behave ethically. Those who hope for a revolution ignore the fact that the vast majority of the voters disagree with them. Moreover, the great majority of those who do not vote do not care about politics. They do not know about politics or much of anything else. In the United States 18% of the population believes that the sun revolves around the earth. I hope few of them vote.
When people stop talking about it and get some balls. When people stop waiting on the next man to take a stand. That's when.
Governments, rightfully so, have laws which make it a crime to overthrow them. It keeps nasty people out of the seats of power. What to do if they're already in power and now hide behind this law? If you play by the rules, you'll likely wind up branded as an enemy combatant and sent to some blackhole prison where they keep such people. The only choice is to gather people together in a public manner and explain what has happened to their government. If you survive that, you can then mount an opposition, either politically or militarily. If you survive that, you then have to convince the military that you are not the enemy and enlist it's help in the overthrow. The military has nightmares about turning it's weapon on it's own people. Kent State left a very bad taste in our mouths as a nation. At the present time, because the military has been on the front lines of bad policy and can see the government has gone off the tracks, we have our best chance of convincing them that we the people need to regain control of our country. The problem is it isn't bad enough yet. And by the time it gets that way, we may be under martial law with little ability to challenge the government without being shot. Something to think about. You younger people better think REAL hard about it. Your blood will be spilt first. x
