Jeez Aeri! Sounds about right with a pain management doc. The one I see is typically $100, but without any income, they give me a discount at time of treatment that drops it down to $60. Though a lot of times they forget... or I'm unable to pay, so it ends up being $100 anyways. Plus the price of prescription, which now the laws have changed. Instead of paying $20 or 30 a month for a month's worth of prescription painkillers, now you're forced to receive 3 months worth and pay around $60-80. My dental is all sorts of screwed right now. However! I did recently come across a website: dentalplans.com which lists various dental plans (not insurance) which cost roughly $105 a year (on average) and bring dental costs down substantially!! They also have a local dentist/doctor search engine which will list which types of plans they accept. Finally, after a month of dealing with these pressure headaches, severe pain, teeth being pushed towards the inside of my mouth due to serious infection, at least I have some sort of resource that may be able to help. And NOT have to rely on some shitty free clinic that takes about 6 months to get your name on the god damn SCHEDULE! :cuss: The way this system works sucks. Especially with unemployment rates so high. There should be MUCH more readily available resources than there are now. At least a website where people can find this shit without being a professional navigator of the fkng Starship Enterprise trying to wander through these shitty government website layouts searching desperately for help. And 6 years w the same eyeglass prescription... I imagine I'll be heading that way myself. But, trying to stay positive. Even though it feels like castles made of sand fall in the sea eventually... Maybe a golden wing ship is passing my way...
I should add that in ontario (not sure about the rest of canada) they have also just implemented a plan to give every child dental exams and cleanings up to a certain age. I'm not sure the specifics, I just remember seeing a sign about it a few days ago. It was something all low income families could access before, but now they are opening it up to all children in the province.
In Canada our health care is not free it is paid for through our taxes. Having said that most services are not paid for at time of usage by those entitled to receive care. I have no complaints about being able to access health care.
That is fantastic! In my opinion, there is nothing more important than dental health. Especially when it comes to the young ones. Every kid I know that's closely related to me, as long as they're getting good grades (or at least working hard at their school work) and brushing their teeth... that's a good path to be on. And that the government has decided to provide that free of cost is music to my ears. Even if it's incorporated via tax dollars, still. What's a few extra pennies and/or dollars here and there for that type of service?
