I appreciate that. Well, it's not meant to be formal. In my opinion it's a kind of politeness. We aren't in chat here. BTW, a story about one of our former cancelors comes to mind. There is a rumour that he had said 'you can say you to me' to a guest of state . That makes perfectly sense if you know that we distinguish between you and a formal you and if you translate the sentence word by word to german. But in english it sounds a little bit strange I guess.
