Can't you check books out and take them home to read? Libraries here have been what have kept us free in the last century.

The problem is,its hard to find the books i'm interested in libraries. Maybe the problem is just in my city, but the libraries here are not well equiped with different new books, usually they are more directed to specific areas, like physic, biology, sociology,or other classics.

    1. Stick with great authors. Don't waste your time on trash.

    2. Ask people whom you know and respect what they have read and liked lately. BTW guys, ask a girl that question and most likely, she'll dig it.

    3. Read book reviews. The New York Times is great for that and you can get them free online.

    4. Google for the "lists" In 1999, several groups put out their lists of the 100 greatest novels, or 100 greatest scifi or whatever. The NYtimes recently did "best books over the past 25 years". I am not saying that you roboticly go through such a list but read some of the plot outlines, see what grabs your fancy.

My list is long and I get through 2-3 books a week.
