He's Namekian.
But judging from the fact that he is pretty much the only main character that does not have white skin, is way under-leveled compared to the rest of the cast, and is usually the guy that ends up beat down or flat out dead, it seems he's the odd man out in the DBZ cast, kind of like black guys and horror movies.

 

I think he had more lasting influence in the series than the black guy in horror films, lol.

 

im not rascist, white, i do believe in god, but I think everyone does in some way. No shame in that, i consider myself libertarian if anything, and somewhat liberal. im from an okay neighborhood in an area thats not slummy, but defintely not high class or rich. Piccolo's role in DBZ is to show the dicotomy of man and the hope the exists in us all, he is the shadow that must exist in order for there to be a contrast to the light(Goku).

In other words Piccolo is not a negro and he is much better than Jesus.

 

But he isn't really a shadow. He isn't evil, he's on Goku's side.

While Rudenoodle makes his point lucid, he has mistakenly, but understandably, left out that while Goku does contrast to the light, Goku is ultimately one with Piccolo (dicotomy of man).

OWB has a deep understanding of the ultimate moral laws of existence he read about them in a book that you can easily purchase at any bookstore.

His source of great wisdom comes from a supernatural entity that created everything including himself and keeps tally of every sparrow that has ever lived or died on this planet, he also keeps records on every atom and ever subatomic particle that is part of this existence.

He is the ultimate in laying out plans and seeing them come to towards fruition, he also hates it if you decide to screw your girlfriend in the ass or receive a blowjob from her.

He's also invisible and if indeed does exist certainly does not want his presence known.

Back on topic, seriously why would a being of such power in an attempt to supposedly save his creation believe the best way to do this is to have a crude human sacrifice in a mostly illiterate portion of the world at the time?

Maybe it was just a experiment in credulity of his new creation.

Long story short, Piccolo is not black and Goku could beat Jesus.
