To me the background beats always sound plastic and phoney, I dislike this as much as the pretence of the lyrics and image. If I was black I would be annoyed at being represented by such buffoons. I am white and Eminem says absolutely nothing to me or about me.
I am black and I say one is represented by what/ who one chooses to follow. One look at me in person, and you'd think I don't even listen to rap. But then again, I do wear this skin. Rappers that represent me...K-OS,JERU, Afu-RA,Mos Def, Talib Kweli..mainly Mos Def ...but of course he's not AS famous as snoop dogg or 50 cent...but then again, so people do live a life style like them so that's who they like to represent them..blah
just to give a little insight, there is this special button on radios that serve as a special function, push the little button that says OFF, now i know this may seem odd to all you, i know it sounds hard, but trust me, if you believe in yourself...you can do it but maybe this is a way to solve your problems
oh come on! you mean to tell me you don't like da snoop dawg!!??? bullshit! drop it like its hoooottttt baby! haha, im just playin. yah im not to fond of the mainstream rap scene, but i gotta admit, i do listen to it quite often, for the laughs of course. my boyfriend and i cruise around downtown blastin snoop and lil' jon! YAYA! bitch you know it
i appreciate and respect the underground hip-hop, way more. they speak about important issues, they can rap better, plus the music sounds better. i'm into some more underground stuff, myself.
You see this is the influence that idiots like Snoop Dog has, people using words like "Da" and sounding dumb wether they are or not. I do not mean to single one person out, but it hardly endears Hip Hop to the articulate. But Patti Smith is great
