i think my feet are soft but after using them all day, they do hurt. I love getting my feet dirty. Back when i used to go over to my grandpas in the summer, my whole familys feet were black because we would always run across the blacktop to get to the pool. Oh feet memories
Yes, that was on a summer trip in 07. But no I'm not a hardcore, barefooter. I do enjoy reading about those who do though.
Oh, OK, so you like living the barefoot lifestyle vicariously through this message board, then. That's cool. I hope you don't mind my saying this, but you should show off your feet more often (based on your picture). You do have nice-looking feet.
Visually, like most folks around here, which is to say, you can't really tell the difference between mine and a shoddie's by looking at it. Tactile-wise, like thick leather in the areas that contact the ground, outlined in red here: Note that the rest of the sole is just as soft as the palm of my hand. "Fox Walking" helps to allow this area to remain entirely untouched during walking, preventing injury. This is by design. As I mentioned in another thread, I'm a big fan of soap, water and scrub brushes, and enjoy lotions as well. Although my feet may look "normal", they're tough as rhino hide, enabling me to hike all day over razor coral, sharp rubble, hot asphalt baked by the tropical sun or any other surface I encounter.
That was an interesting video--thanks for sharing. I tend to walk in that fashion when barefoot, not landing on the heels. I never knew there was a name for it! Now I know.
My heels and balls of the feet are somewhat callused, but the arches are quite soft. I would like them to get tougher, but I have high arches and the skin doesn't touch the ground when walking, so these parts remain soft no matter how much I walk barefoot.
