When it happens in America, it's called a mass shooting
When it happens in any other country, it's called a terrorist attack

And now you're whitewashing what you said.

"You have a very simplistic understanding of schools and society IMHO." Nothing "humble" about this, it's a personal jab.

"Do you understand anything about school boards?" And so is this.

Stick to the subject and try to understand that we don't all come from the same backgrounds or perspectives with regard to schools. Comparing your experience with mine is fruitless. I know what I have seen and experienced.

Very believable. Everyone is armed and trained in the military. And we are fighting an enemy that is archarichly armed and fortified.

Schools are unarmed and ill fortified. Very easy targets if you are even woefully armed.

This kid was putting out signs that could have caused parents and faculty to look at him more closely.

Pagourtzis posted a photo of the trench coat and pins on Facebook on April 30, according to screenshots of the now-deleted page.

    Facebook
He explained in the photo what each pin represented: a hammer and sickle for “rebellion”; a German Iron Cross for “bravery”; a satanic Baphomet goat idol for “evil” and a Japanese rising sun for “kamikaze tactics.”

That same day, he also posted a T-shirt with “Born to Kill” emblazoned across it.

It was the same outfit he would wear three weeks later when he stormed the school with a shotgun and a revolver, witnesses said.

So we need to give students and teacher combat training and guns of their own?

No we need to not mix apples and oranges. Yes it's safer to be in the military than going to school is totally different environments.

It's safer to be in school than to live in the inner city of Chicago.

Doesn't mean it's pertinent to one another.

Or maybe I should take the opportunity to use that data point and encourage more kids to join the military.

Well excuse me for commenting on one of your posts.
I did make the comment, "You have a very simplistic understanding of schools and society IMHO." Why? Because I feel you don't understand the problems or many of the reasons for those problems faced by public schools. You seem to think public schools operate in a vacuum removed from the rest of societal pressures.

I never said you were simplistic, I said you have simplistic views in this area. That's my opinion of your views, not you, not your inelegance or person.
Is that too harsh for you? Am I attacking you personally again?

When we post, we are posting our views and understandings of the world. Nothing wrong with someone criticizing those views. Would you prefer that I agree with everything you say?

I am sticking to the subject, the subject is the Texas school shooting, and by implication all school shootings.
I'm sorry that you don't feel you can benefit from my background or perspective with regard to schools.
I apologize for comparing my experiences of over 50 years in public and state schools, apparently you aren't interested.

Looks like the banks are about to learn a painful lesson. We're bigger and more powerful than they are.

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. gun lobby is taking aim at "gun-hating" banks after Citigroup Inc and Bank of America said they would no longer provide certain banking services to gun-makers, according to industry lobbyists.

The attack by Gun Owners of America and the National Rifle Association (NRA) could imperil de-regulatory gains the banks had hoped to win from Republican lawmakers and regulators, many of whom are staunch defenders of the Second-Amendment right to bear arms, according to industry sources."

It appears that Philipstown, New York has determined that safe-storage of guns will be mandated. However, the gun does not have to be locked up when the owner is home. Therefore, there would be no random home inspections, and the gun would be readily available to the owner should they need it.

The war comes home , and the song is death to America . If it looks terrorism , it is .
America has a spiritual problem . National repentance is one traditional response .
Another is to help the youth understand their nature as warriors . Warriors of Peace ,
    of the Light .

very true. Maybe non-violent conflict resolution methods should be required in schools.

But are those really red flag warning signs because when I was 16, 17 years old If a came across those items I would have been equally fascinated,
although my primary obsession at the time was sports, girls, and SAT’s

    Maybe so .

I'd fancy a two-year course in Philosophy For Children , and this followed by induction
into a Teen-Age Mutant Warrior society whose focus is guerrilla theatre . I once knew
some kids who went to war with a pirate camp - adequately armed with plenty pine
cone grenades -and who gloriously captured the pirates' flag .

People trained in articulated non-vilolent conflict resolution aren't much fun to listen to .
But , oh , I acknowledge how you feel .

I think the fact that he was wearing this long coat every day should have put him on the radar for at least "troubled" in the eyes of the school.

I think his parents should have been even more concerned.

I wonder how his parents dress and what leanings they might have.
