I won't sign the petition. Why? because it's fucking silly. They harvest the organs of practitioners of alternative religions in state execution facilities/"hospitals", they don't give a good god damn about what some silly westerner thinks of their cats/dogs. Also, I'm not sure about the truth of harvesting them for fur (have not SEEN the video, but still) that's what it looks like when they skin and sear dogs/cats for food, but that's NOT why they're skinned. It just makes a good shouting point for PETA. Dogs where domesticated partially for food. The multi thousand year old bones in the firepit don't lie. Of course they where domesticated for everything else they can do, but like everything from cows to llamas, part of their job is... food. Deal with it. Not saying this is nice stuff, but if you think it's the most pressing problem in china, you're literally an evil person. Why? because of the things happening to PEOPLE, if you're protesting about DOGS while PEOPLE are brutally exploited, executed, persecuted, and I don't know what all else by the government and with the permission of the government, you're basically reveling that you don't care so much about animals but about drama. People are animals too, and cruelty to those with greater ability to appriciate cruelty is greater cruelty. I'm sorry for the dogs and cats being killed by the government in china. I'm holding a dog in my lap now. But I simply won't deal with much stuff from china anyway, because of what they do to people and how they run their country.
I agree. I wasnt personally saying that i don't care about people too. I was just commenting on the topic of this post. I just love my doggies to death and it makes me very sad and angry to see and hear about this stuff happening. Ditto for humans but then i thought that went without saying.
Well you'd be suprised, with the PETA types.... But seriously, petitioning the PRC for redress... with ANIMAL rights? they just don't CARE. the government ordered the brutal killing of thousands of strays prior to the olympics (including "strays" that where inside peoples homes, which where violently taken from them) so that the world could see a sanatised version of china.
I signed it but agree with an above post that China will do what they want. Sad but true. One thing i cannot stand is animal abuse. And yet still..you see animals that have been abused..rescued by loving homes..and still are so forgiving of humans. They have above all living things the most unconditional love and i'll never understand how anyone could hurt one. Man...if i accidentally step on my dog's foot ...i'm chasing him around the house so i can say sorry and give him kisses lol. Can't imagine what i would do to someone who dared hurt him. That to me is my 4 legged kid lol.
I don't know why it seems to be so hard for some people to comprehend that you can care about cruelty to both people (who are actually animals anyway) and animals. I've always found it unbelievable and quite ridiculous, that sometimes when you protest about horrendous cruelty and torture inflicted on animals, you get some people trying to insinuate that by protesting against animal cruelty, you musn't care about cruelty towards humans. It's a blatant strawman, and I just find it amazing that so many seem to think that that caring about the suffering of animals and humans have to be mutually exclusive of each other. That it isn't possible to care about both. In any event, animals are innocent, whereas the vast majority of humans are not. And many sentient animals are capable of feeling fear and pain just as acutely as humans can, so I completely disregard your last point as an arguement that human suffering is somehow worse than animal suffering.
