As long as some new folks are enlightened from their experiences at Rainbow, Gatherings will always be worth the effort; even with the guy who talks to his sock(scene from King of the Hill).

    Thank you, Heron! My gosh!

i was just stating my opinion... i was telling people what happened, to get THEIR opinions on my situation. i'm sorry if i offended anyone at all, that definately was not my intention.

and voided.... if you say there is hope in the rainbow to become a tribe... then why wont you name the book that you are talking about? if you want the Rainbow to become "better" or whatever...... fucking get some balls and WORK TO CHANGE IT, instead of bitching, please.

There's been a lot of that "get what they deserve" talk going on lately. I hear most of it from the Front Gate Thugs, the Insecurity Force, when they're discussing some beating. I hope most of us get better than we deserve. I see the same BS as you do at Gatherings, trust me. But instead of taking the path of the Disillusioned Idealist, I follow the far more fun way of the Cynical Pragmatist. The fleas come with the dog.

(sniffs self , fails to detect odor of decay, checks pulse) Still alive over here. Too bad your family got killed by a piece of paper. Mine's tougher than that, still disFUNctional as ever.

Go down to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and say that, bucko!

Rainbows are as full of as many different types of "hippys" as the rest of the world is full of many different types of characters, and the biggest mistake anybody makes is thinking that we're all the same. There is good and bad everywhere, and better and worse, and average and beyond... So there is no point in pointing fingers, or making absurd judgements about what any group of people do or don't do. I've met many fine family, and some not so fine. Everywhere. That's life. Judging the "group" by what some of its "members" do, or not, is fruitless. It's like throwing away a bushel of apples just 'cause a couple of them are rotten. To an extent, you create your own reality. (probably alot more than most want to admit.) If folks want to find trouble in paradise, then they will. It ain't that hard. If ya want better, you have to start better, and others will follow. It ain't all that hard either. It's a bad habit to put down alot of folks for disagreeing with a few. It'll keep you in the box. See it for what it is. An opinion. And if there is room for more than one opinion, then it ain't necessarily "truth". 'Cause truth don't change. So, if you have an opinion, and somebody has a differing opinion, then look instead at your perception... And take responsibility for it.

"Fighting for Peace is like..." (Fill in the blank).

The Cops are really good at fighting. They've spent years training for fighting, and have millions of dollars of equipment to fight with. The hippies aren't nearly that good. But we can kick their asses playing rediculous fantasy games in the woods!

lol Hippy + Cop + fight = not cool...

One of my best friends is a cop,
and i know he can fight, i would
be well matched against him for sure,
but cops have more toys to make
things even when they need it.

Voided. It sounds like you are in a fairly angry, dark place. Yeah, rainbow sounds like it is not what it could be, but what is? If you truly want to become that "holy man" that you have always dreamed of, than you better learn to take it on the chin and smile. The lord was nailed to the cross, brother. True strength is forged with endurance and patience. Not fighting. Do you honestly think that your "woodstock" nation can out fight the government? Get real. Only God can topple them now. So I suggest you get down with God which means getting down with peace, patience and forgiveness. Vengnence is his. Not yours or ours. You can't even keep a roof over your head, brother. So if you must whine and pout, don't do it at the expense of a dream. Attack the people on the path if you must, but leave the path alone.

Voided, maybe you arent such a bad guy after all... sorry, man.

i think the general consences of the old rainbows is that the rainbow idea has changed, completely changed. so the old and the new should work together to make one, unified tribe, just as it was a while ago.

maybe i am wrong here, but i think it is all about peace.

Well, after further review, I'm sorry. No apology required from you. My frustration is born out of my lack of knowledge about the topic. I'm not a fan of fundementalism (as a manmade population control tactic). However, I see more true christianity amongst the beliefs and concepts of rainbow than I do in babylon's version of it. I'm still trying to measure out some of my percieved 'rainbow' ethics against my spirituality, but that verdict is still out. As far as the seemingly dominate native american affliation, I stand confused. From what I've researched, the rainbows tie to authentic native american spirituality is weak at best. That's not to dicredit anyone's individual spirituality, but rather to express a reaction to the labeling of christ's teachings as 'nonsense'. Would that fly with any other belief system held by someone. I'm not upset, just food for thought. Am I right to assume that the rainbow analogy is used to represent a pluristic spiritualy amongst members? Help me out.
