that would put us on the road at the same time, wonder if our paths ever crossed like in the mission in saint charles, or uncle vinnys in pheonix? (two places that happened often)
closest thing i've down to hitch hiking across the country would have been my cross-country bike tour from WA to NH. i did have to hitch hike in North Dakato for about 20 miles one time. i had to get a new wheel for my bike and i only had 1 hour to get to the bike shop before it closed and we were on the highway. luckily someone stopped and got us to the bike shop, but the bike shop didn't have a wheel that would fit my bike. thats the closest i've been to hitch hiking though...
Hahaha... I was hitchhiking from Shawnee, Ok to Oklahoma City and this guy in a demonic looking pickup truck picked me up. The guy had dark shiny slicked back hair, sunglasses, and a long leather trenchcoat. He was a big guy too. Looked sorta evil.. I bummed a cig while we were riding along and started to talk about philosophy or something. I noticed that the guy was rubbing his crotch and looking over at me funny. The next thing I know, the guy is masturbating in the drivers seat asking if he can see mine. I said "I know you think I'm hot, but I'm not into men. I understand though, I used to masturbate to Victoria's Secret catalogues when I was a kid..." Well, the guy pulled over at a truck stop and said he could pick me up later if I needed someplace to go.... Guess what? I didn't wait around... All my friends say I was lucky I wasn't killed... of course, I thought the whole situation was pretty hilarious, if somewhat gross...
I'm going thru Oklahoma....but hell I probably would have wanted to jump out of the truck before he even stopped
Well, the bus probably goes through Shawnee, I have friends who own the ramada inn. Of course, your bus will stop at the Americana (or something like that) a little hotel about 3 blocks from the ramada.
I posted a thread with the bus schedule...was hoping to say hello to any member that lived near any bus stop
whats uni? Is it short for university...I seem to remember that you are in school but forget what you're studying. Anyways, I ended up taking the greyhound bus again across the country....my ex paid for my ticket but I still like the idea of hitch-hiking across
I hitched from SoCal to Eugene OR, then from there to Mt Shasta CA, from shasta to SF, from SF to RENO, from RENO back to MT Shasta, Mt SHasta back to EUgene, picked up dead tour , then got a ride back down to Mountainview. There I ran into Joe from back home and got a ride all the way back south to my parents driveway, in Riverside California. Was a very fun period in my youth. Summer 1993.
Believe it or not, there still are plenty of cool people out there. People willing to give help to others. I got dropped off in Chicago a few years ago, with $7 in my pocket. Took me three days to get a job, and I met some cool people and found a place for my dog and I to crash. Hung out up there for about 6 months.
