i think it would be funny if a hippy had it on their door, but if somebody seriously hated hippies i dont think they would even bother with the sign...they probably don't want us in their establishment at all. lol.

 

what's really annoying is when they follow you around the store glaring suspiciously.

 

i think its funny as hell because they treat you diffrent just by the way you look.....and act and smell, i just find that amusing for some reason...

well wasnt that the whole point back in the 60's? if hippies back then could laugh at themselves then it didnt matter if the mainstream poked fun at them... it made it impossible to hurt us

 

I agree with you... I can be walking in a store somewhere and have some uptight, conservative type, woman jerk her head and glare her eyes in disbelief at me. To which, I seem to have the consistent response of bursting into a quite vocalized laughter, which in turn makes her turn around in further visual disdain and also get the attention of a few others in the vicinity. It just cracks me up. As the saying goes, "you laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at you because you're all the same."

 

well said! I mean seriously why get all dressed up just to please others? Id much rather deal with a little bit of mocking .. Im the one thats comfortable with who I am, and not afraid of what people think of what I like.. I pity the people who sit there all cramped up in their suits and sneakers and tight jeans and fitted tee shirts just because thats whats accepted I just sit there all comfy in my skirts and sandals and smile because I can laugh at THEIR discomfort

yeah....some cops came up to me the other day (i was outside on the phone at 5 in the morning, wanted to see what i was up to), and they looked me up and down, then put a flashlight in my eyes. Just because i'm a "hippy" does not mean i smoke pot constantly...geesh

 

exactly! I contra dance every friday night and it doesnt end until like 1130... well one of the places I go is around the corner from my house but the other is like a 35 minute drive and my best friend's car has a bunch of hippie stickers on the back.... when you contra you go ALL OUT with what you wear.. its lots of spinning so big flowy colorful skirts are really popular..

so the other night we were driving back and were both decked out in color and hippie stuff moreso than normal and a cop pulled us over! he was looking around for drugs in the back seat and everything .. when he was done he was like I pulled you over because your back break lights are uneven ones brighter than the other.

And is there a law against that in Rhode Island that we're unaware of ? As long as they were both working, so what ? People should start capturing stuff like this on their camera phones and pasting it all over the net so it's constantly in the public eye to help put an end to harassment crap like this...

I GOT THAT SIGN FOR CHRISTMAS. I love it. My mom calls me a hippie, and I think it's annoying. She likes that I'm like that though, because she was so different than everyone else in high school. lol. I'm not sure where to put my sign though. I think it's hilarious.
