I loved the other episode of Roseanne where they found somebody in the houses stash and smoked it not knowing whose it was. The "Very Special" episodes were allways the funniest in that unintentional comedy sense. Like the "Very Special" Family Ties where Alex ends up strung out on speed. It would've been funnier if he ended up awake for 3 days paranoid and compulsively masturbating. But alas that would've been too realistic this is a family show. And the Hippie parents never ended up owning up to the dope they took.

    Peace Out,
    Rev J

Let’s not forget the ultimate hippie burnout, Reverend Jim from Taxi!

Reverend Jim Ignatowski was born James Caldwell and was ordained as a minister with the Church of the Peaceful ("investigated and cleared of all charges"). Around this time, Jim changed his last name to Ignatowski, believing it was "Starchild" spelled backwards.

Jim was thrown out of the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago for stealing decorations. At one point his address was a 1963 Volkswagen Beetle. He attended Woodstock ("500,000 people...lucky for them I went or it would have only been 499,999"); he drove to Woodstock in that same Beetle with 12 other members of his commune crammed inside. Those same members of his commune later traded him to another commune for two goats and a Donovan album. He said he kept finding God everywhere--"he kept ditching me". He also spent a year of his life making a macrame couch. Jim once claimed that instead of finding Nirvana or God from his 1960's experiences, it only left him with recurring flashbacks of the original Mouseketeers (especially Cubby) appearing as visions hatching out of seedpods.

When I was in one of my first audio production classes they were teaching us on these little cheap mixing boards with red, yellow, and green LED's for VU meters. When we were doing a class review the teacher asked "What does a yellow light mean?" I replied in best Reverend Jim voice I responded "Slow Down." Me and the teacher were the only 2 that got the joke. BTW the autographed picture was a great touch.

Maynard G. Krebs was actually a beatnik, as he came along before the term hippie was coined.
