Thats so true man. I don't se hippies as myselfe mainstream, I never met any anyone like myselfe in my whole life so it simply can't be mainstream.
40 years ago it might have been but not today.

 

so why do you think so many people are over concerned about lables? I just dont get it.

 

but why dont people get so frusterated and hate labels, they wont hurt you!! its ok haha, you may not like being almost put into a catagory or stereotype or label or whatever, but that doesnt mean ur not an individual. its just a word. it really isnt a big deal being called a hippy haha. most people who you call hippies are hippies.

Labels are funny, fickle little things, example:
I was married to the drummer of the Freedom Band at the top of a mountian, barefoot, in a home-made dress. With all my brothers and sisters of the Freedom Farm there. We were a group of politically conscience, liberal, tree hugging, nature freaks who spent alot of our time with food drives and helping the home-less. We just believed in Karma and love and world peace...and the inner peace of a higher conscience.
We didn't have the internet back then (I was 17) so we thought Rainbow Gatherings were for radicals!!! Isn't that funny? Radical hippys!!!!
We didn't think we were hippy's. We thought hippy's were all about protest and drugs.

I have been called hippy by many people since my "ignorant" days. I don't care. I don't really think of myself as a hippy but if I am called that it's OK, I'll own it. Whatever makes you feel good. No matter what I'm called I still wear hand made clothes, grow my own veggies, tree hug, and volunteer. I still love the Grateful Dead and the vibe of a good jam band and I am me. Hippy or not! Damned proud of it!

I feel what you're saying but, get your campain together before you run for president! I was ready to join your cause but your name just didn't sit right with me. well dude, sorry to offend. I have to say though, the hippie pride campaign is taking off! I have here some reasons to sign on, I hope youll take them under consideration:

* If you join now, later you can say "I was hip before it was cool."
* Next time someone flips you off when walking down the road, you can flash a peace sign and say proudly "Hippie pride, muthufucka!"
*if hassled by a Lable Nazi, you can tell them Hippie is no longer a lable, but a movement.
*all the cool kids are doin it. Arn't you cool...?
*after signing, you soon find that you are "getting more"
*I dont go by Sunshine outside of these forums. In the real world i go by Jesus Karma Quinn. i hope you like that better.

Ok, Jesus 'Karma' Quinn!...first of all your middle name isn't Karma! so lets get that out of the way, you're a phony to begin with, second of all,...so is your cause! You didn't offend me. I was just here to offer you some advice and to MAYBE help your cause. I ain't no hippie, and alot of people here are not hippies either, so 'Jesus' ....you really have your work cut for you! When you go on a mission, fight for a cause, volunteer for a purpose,....don't make enimeis!!! The cause isn't for you,...it's for someone else! YOU need all the froends you can get. So as this is my last letter to you,...get a real life, get a real cause, make a real difference!,....don't come on this board and try to make enemies of the people that are already here!? They already know where they're at,...now you need to find out where your real cause COULD be???
Last but not least, I am not trying to be rude, but damn......come on! Be real! IM me if you want to make a point, and I would love to debate, I am open to your point of view?

 

Hey now! People, people, people! Does Sunshine bash you for your beliefs? NO! The definition of a hippy from Webster's dictionary states that a hippy is, ": a usually young person who rejects the mores of established society (as by dressing unconventionally or favoring communal living) and advocates a nonviolent ethic.

I am PROUD to call myself a hippy. There is was to much violence and hate in this world. But if there are still people on this planet that believe in peace, then I think that maybe fighting could stop. It definately won't happen tomorrow, not with Bush in office, and it may not happen in my lifetime. But I hope that someday all around the world we can call each and every man, woman and child our brother.
Now I know i will get bashed for this post, but I don't care. You have your beliefs and I have mine. So back off and go smoke a joint. Just chill out, people.

I didn't tell anyone to join anything, I was simply stating my beliefs. I don't think Sunshine was trying to persuade anyone in joining the movement either. I think what he was trying to do, was get those of us that do follow the movement together. So we all know that we aren't alone.
