we used to call pizza places and Kfc 15 minutes before they close, order big ass meals, then get them outta the dumpster 30 minutes later, often seperatly bagged and still hot ;)

Now that's what I call genius! A typical breakfast for me is coffee, oatmeal and fresh fruit.

for breakfast, i'd prolly cook some biscuits and gravy (no meat, im veggie), with some fresh fruit.... toast possibly. oh and definately some fried potatoes!

for lunch, i'd either make veggie quesidillas or black bean burritos, both with a small side salad. (hey cheese, tortillas, and beans are CHEAP!)

for dinner, i'd have some veggie sandwiches, with chips, and milk!

    so there ya go!

What I would want for breakfast would depend on whether or not I had previously consumed pot.

I just found this forum, and love this question. It brings back memories of being totally broke, living in an old schoolbus with a wood stove and a box of pancake mix. We were parked in a farmer's pasture, and he shared fresh eggs, cream, and apples with us. So it was pancakes with bean sprouts and packaged gravy for supper, pancakes with apples for breakfast.

Stir fried whatever is handy. Plus some eggs scrambled in and served with whatever bread u got annd salsa Or wholegrain flapjacks and some fruitbutter on top or wholegrain cereal cooked up into mush. Depends on what is at hand and what got donated to the magic kitchen fund. LOL

Food -- IMHO -- is almost always a good place to start whenever you're trying to get someone's attention :) My last boyfriend had very little to say that was intelligent and for some reason he loved to offer, "When you eat with people, you bond with people." He happened to have been an excellent cook. I'd tried explaining to him that if you're eating food that tastes like crap, the only bond you have with others is puking up in the toilet.

On a lighter note, however, how about some creamy rice and spinach casserole ?

    Creamy Rice & Spinach Casserole

    Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    • several cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 medium to large onion, chopped
    • 3-4 tablespoon olive oil
    • 3-4 tablespoon flour
    • 2 cups vegan soymilk (plain)
    • 1 cup vegetable broth
    • salt & pepper to taste
    • 1 10-oz package frozen chopped spinach, thawed & drained
    • 4 cups (cooked) brown rice - approx.
    Directions:

In a large pot, saute garlic & onion in olive oil until softened. Sprinkle w/ flour & stir until mixture is pasty. Add soy milk & broth. Cook, stirring, at a low boil until sauce thickens. Season w/ salt & pepper. Remove from heat & stir in spinach & rice. Add just enough rice so that mixture is still creamy, not dry. Bake in a greased, 3 qt. 9x13 pan at 350 deg. for about 30 minutes, until bubbly. Reheats well. Pasta could be used instead of rice. This recipe is very flexible, so use your imagination. We like it with lots of garlic!

Serves: 6-8 Preparation time: 1 hour
