Hip Forums Age Limit?

What about sites like jackinit or whatever....i think reading about things isnt illegal...regardless of age....as long as porn is kept away...and that is in erotica....so I guess there shouldnt be worry of Love and Sex either.....

fuck it....just leave it...why did this come up anyway skip?

 

Unfortunately, puritans don't always see it our way.

They may have a tendency to consider some things illegal because they are "inappropriate" or "harmful to minors" and close this place down either through blatant coercion or covert pressure.

I think Skip SHOULD take such things into consideration.

I voted keep it as it as. Any younger and youre attracting kids to things they have no business in. But any older and youre restricting the curious who are not in danger

 

I understand the argument....this brings me to a thought i had recently....the internet has changed a generation....they know things that I never considered at 14 or 15....i never knew people fucked dogs then lol....cause I didnt have the net....but hell..its no thing to them.

But still, society wants to keep the innocent reigns on them.

Bird's right, more people would just lie about their age and it wouldn't make a difference.

 

I think that leaving it at 13 is ok... although I do also agree to a certain degree with FatFreddyFreekowtski.

 

I was giving more of a "commutity feel", "ideal situation" responce. I was assuming that legal, regulatory and programming concens would be factored in by those who know more about that end of a forum (i.e. Skip).

 

True, but what about the minority of 13-15 year-olds who don't act as immature as the average kid?

 

That's the point. Some would lie and still be able to get on the site, but to say it wouldn't make a difference is not true.

It would. It would legally. If something happened, the site could not be held responsible. Only the liar who lied about his/her age.

Thats right! not all of us that are under 18 are trolls, and this is hardly a chav site so none of us are going to use crappy 'text language' and its not something that is an issue on this site. Try to think of us who can speak english fluently, and do so!

 

My vote would go to putting an age limit on Love and Sex. I had to abandon my former incarnation on the forums and take a break, over potential legal problems that could have arisen given my posting style/content at the time and some local events that validated my paranoia.

 

I think it would be best to leave it as it is. If the age limit is raised, then the people under that limit who are already registered should be allowed to keep posting. Like just an age limit to join.

With certain subjects and certain bits of language on here, there should be a higher limit, but it really doesn't matter. Kids can fake their age online so easily it's absurd. But at least you make the effort.

 

I agree they will probably fake their ages, but I think the age limit should be 18 and get the little kids out of here. I mean, its about fuckin drugs and shit. Make it an adult forum

I think most of us "little kids" are mature enough to handle posts about "drugs and shit." We're exposed to worse stuff than that offline.

 

Me along with other people my age and younger have benefitted greatly from these forums. There are a ton of people in say, the Gay forums, who are under eighteen who have gotten a lot of good encouragement and support by talking to older more experienced people.
