I don't think it's too advanced at all, it's definitely a good beginners book. It describes in detail everything you need, everything you need to know about sewing, measuring and whatever. The only thing is if you're not familiar with your sewing machine, i would suggest going over your manual, and practicing stitches on scrap fabric. Oh, I hate to tell you- most sewing books are going to be pretty boring...lol....that's one of my biggest problems too. But it's sewing, an author can only make a book about sewing so interesting, it's up to you to take your own direction and make fun out of it
