The things they teach in high school arent even WORTH learning. Theres no value in knowing what they teach. None of it is relevant

Then I talked to a frog and learned a rounded skill set of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, and afterward he taught me how to write and how to be a good orator.

If you didn't learn things in high school that's your problem. Most of my friends still know the difference in red and blue light shift in stars, geometry, the basics of physics on like why a satellite is always technically falling, world history. Guess what, experiencing life doesn't impress your boss, if you randomly bring up a conversation on say physics you become more valuable.

Saying only 1 or 2% learn things is just you trying to justify apathy when it's obvious most people are in fact learning. Yea, the fact is a lot of what people learn they'll forget. But people retain basic concepts, and when you do the work, you have the record that you can actually do both rational and abstract problems to solve problems and create concepts, ect. People don't get a 4.0 because they're worried about winding up on the streets, they do it because it provides security. This just isn't common sense, it's also statistical fact, ask the masses of the unemployed.

I think the problem here is that we're fighting two different battles. Everyone is looking at the high school thing and the education in terms of how valuable it will make you to a potential employer.
I think (HOPE) that euphoriaforall understands that having a diploma and/or a degree will indeed make you far more attractive to an employer.
From what I can tell, the point he's arguing is that life isn't about jobs or anything like that, so thus school is a waste of time. It doesn't matter how valuable you look to someone that can give you a paycheck, as worth is measured in how many practical things you know.

I think what you (euphoria) need to understand is that money is very very close to being a requirement. It's just part of life. In the world that we're in now, you have to have at least some money, regardless of how simple a life you're living. I just finished reading a bunch of books on homesteading. These are people that have figured out how to store all their feces so they can use them to fertilize the garden next year. They care about being self-sufficient to crazy extremes. Yet, in every book I read, there was a considerable section dedicated entirely to talking about how to make enough money to live the sustainable lifestyle.

No, we shouldn't have to use money or waste our time trying to get it. It's a terrible terrible terrible thing. But it's a very real thing, and if you hope to survive in this society, you're going to have to get it some how.
Yes, you'll be able to make money without any of the knowledge from school. But it's almost guaranteed that you're going to be doing really stupid jobs for very low wages, and you're not going to be able to count on a consistent flow of income in a lot of situations.

a) You aren't doing well in any traditional sense - education, future economics, American dream, rah rah rah.
