OK wait, so, you only want to vote for someone who's gonna give you a handout, or cater specifically to you and give you money? Heck, you sound like a Liberal but without the connections. What's wrong with Harper's platform? Eliminating ridiculous and stupid government spending, putting the felons running the show now into touch, and actually giving people their HARD EARNED money back?
dude, she's voting NDP, not conservitive and likely doesn't care to listen to your cynical bullshit, as I know I certainly don't anymore we all get it, you love harper, death to screwface and crime minister martin, throw em in jail, NDP are crackpots, bla bla bla
You sound a little angry. That is no emotional state to be voting in, perhaps you should lend me your vote, yovo.
You're saying the NDP aren't? You're saying it's OK to embezzle BILLIONS OF DOLLARS from the public treasury?
some view it as re-investing in society(not myself neccessarily), it's a difference in opion, I wasn't saying anything but that your points are quite clear and the manner in which you've presented them have been shameless in thier anti-liberal, anti-NDP, anti-green, anti-anything that doesn't come out of your golden mouth rhetoric
I'm glad they're clear. We need clarity. As for reinvesting in society, dude we have enough baristas with master's degrees in basket weaving.
Perhaps, but you better wait until after the election cause I have amazing sphincter control and I don't plan on heading over to the booths.
you know what IronGoth, I respect your right to vote however you want. Oh wait, that's right, you don't live in Canada anymore. You already ahve your Harper-esque president, so quit making judgements on people because of the party they choose to support No, really, stop with your stereotypes and your prejudices, it's really fucking tiring
yes. Only because I ignore you 99% of the time, I actually bother to read most of IG's posts, hence me getting all riled up by him
RE: you know what IronGoth, I respect your right to vote however you want. Oh wait, that's right, you don't live in Canada anymore. You already ahve your Harper-esque president, Actually, Bush is nothing like Harper. Harper's Reform party is based on fiscal conservatism, e.g. not spending what you don't make. Bush, on the other hand, is spending like an NDPer and is NOT even REMOTELY interested in the electorate. The comparison is totally inappropriate, and wrong. I'm not saying this to rile you, Canada honestly needs to be saved. RE: so quit making judgements on people because of the party they choose to support Asking a question isn't making a judgment. And can you stop saying "fuck" at me?
Brother, I've seen a lot of honest hard up people in this country, and thier numbers are rising, as are the numbers of food banks and thrift stores in nearly every community. Our urban centres are in decay and affordable housing is nearly non-existant in many places now. For many a higher education simply isn't an option anymore because of unchecked tution costs and a lack of government support (in many western nations university is completely subsidised). The gap between the rich and poor grows each day and although the national debt is at an all time low, personal debt is at an all time high. Native people live in 3rd world poverty and the environmental issues won't be resolved without propper funding. I think paying off the national debt is no longer as vital to Canadians as reinvesting in our society and it can be done with a balanced budget.
^^^ is a judgement. Boiling down all the reasoning and personal choices that went into deciding to endorse the NDP to an assumption that I'm voting for someone who will give me a big handout is judging me. I'm actually voting for htem, in part (and this the part related to education, where you're assuming I want a totally free university degree) because they plan on redesigning and reevaluating the current student loan programs, which is insufficient and poorly managed. And yes, I can stop saying fuck (apologies.. I swear when passionate about something) I wasn't comparing Bush and Harper economically. Their personality, their stances on a lot of thigns (ie same-sex marriage) are very similar. They both are socially conservative, both pro-war, that sort of thing. Not talking about budget plans here, but on their ideas and values. Harpers values simply clash too strongly with my own to ever vote for him.
In the United States when the economy was on fire, (e.g. before Bush got in) they were holding job fairs IN HOMELESS SHELTERS. Likewise, in Alberta there's no need for a minimum wage - you can't hire people unless you offer at least $10 an hour, cause of the demand for employees. THAT is how you raise people's standard of living - give them their tax money back, get the HELL out of the way of people making money and jobs. NOT the NDP way, saying "who can we steal from to give to the vegan wholefood lesbian street theatre activist troupe we drink organic wine with at the ferret jamboree". You know what that leads to, in Europe and here? Now you need a Master's degree to get a job at Starbucks. A Bachelor's don't mean JACK, everyone's got one. Of course, the unionised tenured uni staff LOVE it. What can I say? Same thing happened to me. Couldn't find a job, wasn't allowed welfare (white male? able bodied? OUT! and meanwhile some Somalian refugee drives in in a brand new Honda....) had to max out the credit cards. The only thing that saved me was a job. In the States. What stopped Nestle from raping the 3rd world with its infant formula scam? HINT: not government regulation... The NDP wouldn't know a balanced budget if it came up to them, slapped them across the collective face and urinated all over their grandmothers. Remember BOB RAE? BRITISH COLUMBIA?
And the NDP campaigns on "don't let education be a debt sentence?" In other words, fanny about for years at uni on the public ticket. Here's the difference. Whereas Bush is a slimeball who'll ram through legislation, Harper, aside from his personal beliefs, won't. All Harper is saying with SSM is that if the country REALLY is in favor of it, REALLY wants it, REALLY REALLY REALLY thinks it's important, then let's vote on it. If you're right, hey, DEMOCRACY decides the issue. Not some judge. Do you realise kiddie porn is legal in B.C. cause some LIBERAL ACTIVIST JUDGE decided that some dude caught with DVDs of beating and raping little boys was denied his civil rights by being told he was wrong for having them? The court system in Canada is ludicrous. Governments are supposed to make laws, not judges. What the hell do his values have to do with it? Harper is a democrat, not a neo-conservative demagogue. Him, like Preston Manning, simply wanted a government by the people for the people. By your definitions, I should discard everything Gandhi ever said cause he beat his wife.
pretty sure its a derivation of an indian word meaning village. I'm calling another liberal minority. Any other wagers?
your kidding right? I'm calling a conservitive minority, possibly majority. Depends on how they do in the GTA, parts of BC and whether or not they can break through into Quebec a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if the NDP took upwards of 30 seats, the bloc will likely swipe up most of Quebec and the liberals will be reduced to 80 seats or less. If the Liberals really take a dive tonight there's a slight possibility we'll see the Bloc as official oposition once again, wouldn't that be pleasent? Tonights going to be a good show for sure, I'm quite interested to see how the green party fares in the popular vote. I'm heading out to vote in about 2 hours, then later I'll tune into CBCs coverage at 8 or 9, or whatever it is. This shit's almost as good as hokcey!
