Yeah fair point, i didnt do anything wrong, it happens i should quit my bitching, point taken... just this hasnt happened to me before... sorry ill quit my bitching, thank you.
Nah i got your point, i was serious. ... it just bothers me you know... its not quite the same as a stop sign but i do understand where you are coming from
Hey dont get me wrong i brake the law often but its victimless, not that im involved in this but i mean if you run a stop sign you dont get left with images in your head...
Haha true, but im sure thats not what you meant when you said it and thanks i feel better now, you and lodui helped.
well i did before on the old machine that quit allowing me to connect to the internet or my printer about a year ago. i'd swear it was one of the sites i inadvertently stumbled upon, maybe i stayed there too long looking or something, that someone, government or self apointed 'do gooder' had virus boobytraped, that might have been the cause of it, cause this happened right before when it got infected and that seems like the most likely source of the infection. i even saw the name "skyeagle" briefly appear on one of my scans trying to track it down. sounds like the kind of name government would come up with for it if they wanted to screw people up with a particularly nasty, insidius and really well hidden computer virus, doesn't it? does to me anyway =^^= .../\...
Legally, like everybody has said, report it to the appropriate authorities. Not only does this help fight child porn, but, if anybody in law enforcement ever asked you about it, you could show that you tried to do the right thing. Also, if you are worried about getting it permanently off your hard drive, you can use this utility. Wipe your free space using the "Gutmann" method. (Depending on your hard drisk size, it could take quite a long time to completely clean your free space, but it WILL be thoroughly cleaned by this method.
go to your temporary internet files and your cookies page, maybe the site name is still there. You kindof have a moral obligation to tell the cops now, it's kindof like you see a house burning down, but don't call the fire company. we're all in this together, man, y'ken?
If you try to repeat your steps to find the name of the site again, I would consider not doing it in Internet Explorer. Like you mentioned, the chances of picking up something nasty are significant. Ideally you could use knoppix or something, but if you are going to use Windows, I would at least browse using the lastest version of FireFox.
god, i tried to close a popup one time back when i first got a computer, fucking had to shut down my computer to get them to stop w/ the porn. one of them was child porn. fucking disgusting. i still get pissed, & to this day i rarely just surf about.
alas, there are a few countries where it is legal to ahve nude pics of people under 18 (I mean, pornographic nude pics). I accidentally wandered into one one time, it was... exceedingly uncomfortable, pretty damn gross. I think as long as you don't click on it at all, as long as you leave the site it's not a problem. Only if you go poking around could you be prosecuted or anything.
