Following up indirectly with PrOne's post - and I'm sorry I don't have a reference or citation for this, but the story (and I think it's true) goes like this: Carl Jung, surely one of the greatest psychiatrists of all time, had a patient with alcoholism. Therapy was of no help and finally Jung said, "I'm sorry. I cannot help you - only God can help in this matter." The patient went on to surrender to God and was healed. My guess is that anyone in AA or NA would say, "Well, of course."

Now we have sacraments of enormous power (back to prOne's post). Maybe worth a try. Yet, looking at Bill W's life, it's seen that even the founder of AA/NA continued to struggle - including after using LSD. Positive.Vibrations has it right about the seriousness of long-time addictions.

    Loving you Codmouse ...

I don't smoke mang, I just recently stopped using all of the stuff too. Not even alcohol. I figure its really not worth even the slight risk of doing whatever. The army gave me the awesome gift of loving things that are normal, so I am on that right now. Hacky sack (actually called footbag now...), riding bikes, camping, etc.

First part meant a lot to me, thank you! As for the making changes in my life, I most definitely have made major changes in it, and will continue to do so :) Despite my moms situation I feel like I am the luckiest person on earth. But thats a whole other post.

Well, at first I truthfully thought this was the most retarded idea, because thats part of the reason she is messed up. She was such a hardcore hippie that she did all sorts of acid and drugs. Weed everyday that I can remember and cigs since she was 13 everyday. But then I realized that the last time she used a psych is when she was like in her 30's. I know the DPT treatment in Iraq got me to change quite a bit, why not her? Because I am to scared she will die... She can't even clean her house or fold laundry without becoming extremely exhausted. Even with the oxygen :'( And to think, she used to be soo strong.......

She is using nicotrol which is kinda like a nicotine vaporizer. Its nothing like a cig or those e-ciggs though and she can't transfer the habit. I am going to send her a ecig though and see what happens. The disease is progressive though. At this point she will die from it, only getting worse as she goes. The cigarettes just quicken the process. No turning back on this one...

    This is awesome ^10

I figured that there is only so much awesomeness a person can live in their life before its time for them to go. Seriously... xD

The 40$ means a lot to me man! But I have her covered. Right now I have the monies, thank god.

And ANY of you could bet your bottom dollar in hell that I would pray for a situation as cereal as this for any of you. Esp. the ones who mean more to me, which you know who you are.

P.S. I do realize the seriousness of this situation and am trying to keep the mood light for myself. :angelsad2:

Thank you everyone, you have no idea how much it means to me. Seriously.

Hey Codmouse, I can't believe it took so long for me to remember the Serenity Prayer.

I used to be associated with a drug treatment center - lots of true old school addicts (former armed robbers, prostitutes, and such) and from them I gained enduring respect for AA/NA. The Serenity Prayer was a happening thing in that place.

E-Cigs are something you should look into for sure. Same nicotine, no lung damage. And vaping, for pot.
