How "out" do you hope to get it? I got to 70's orange after many many months and boxes of bleach. I asked a salon for help and they looked at me like I had the plague.

My hair has been black a few times and faded back to light brown or dyed back pretty easy- with very little damage.
bleaching that dark of hair to get my bangs light damn near killed it though.

i sometimes get bored with my natural black hair, but bleh can't be bothered to dye them + my eyebrows and lashes are pitch black. if i'd go any other color, i'd prolly have to dye o bleach or what ever them too.

i agree that rebackcombing roots sounds dumb, but what do you think about backcombing the loose hair in order to weave them in near the roots and thicken up them abit.. maybe helping them to knot only a wee?

Guess there are a lot of variables in dye/bleach/hair-type. Being so uber-bleached maybe mine absorbed the black more.

light brown maybe... but I'm talking about blonde.... something light enough to dye some bright color or in my case, light enough to tone to white. I think I got to brown in about 2 bleaches, but after that it was fucking impossible, especially the tips.

lol I dont know. I am not into dying hair. I was just suprised how smooth everything went. Everyone was saying it was impossible to get all the black out and it looked amazing afterwards

I don't think it'd be a problem to backcomb the loose hair, I would only do it if he planned on making seperate dreads with it though... if I planned to weave it in the root of another dread, I wouldn't backcomb it at all, it would hurt more than help in that case.

mine wasn't semi- permanent, it was permanent, so no luck fading... =/ if I ever did anything with black again, it'd be to dye a couple dreads black, but only one or two, but I doubt I'd even do that.

    Tenshi.. care to elaborate?

and Pat i don't think many white people have pitch black natural hair. in that case i'd correct myself and say mine are dark brown too

My dad and his brother both have natural black hair. I wish I would have got that end of the gene pool

personally, I would take the large portions of hair and backcomb them into being their own dreads. small pieces of loose hair I'd weave into the closest dread (preferably one of the weak ones) with a large eyed needle or a small latch hook (hair by hair rather than the entire small section at once) after that I'd leave it alone and do nothing but wash every few days with either a residue free shampoo or baking soda and water mixture. That's just me though.

i disagree tenshi becuase if you weave straight loosies into established locks it'll look weird. if you backcomb/t&r/palm rub to make it frizz and then weave it'll look better.

also, my dad is white and has black hair. so, it's possible lol.

not many people at all have pitch black hair... most black people have that off black color. About the only people I've seen with pitch black are a few indians and the occassional asian.

not if you do it hair by hair, only looks weird if you weave multiple hairs together.
