I rate myself as an agnostic. I do respect Christians of most stripes while not buying into the details of their belief system.

This Christmas season I was feeling good about having avoided most of the Christmas music the department stores hit us with. I was lying in bed (my favorite activity) Christmas morning with the radio on, when the CBC broadcast the RCA Victor Singers, Richard Westenburg conducting. They were performing at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City. And, they were performing "O Holy Night".

I was shattered. I broke down, crying uncontrollably. The power and beauty of it just overwhelmed me. Obviously, whether I bought into the religious dogma or not, there was something very serious going on here. There was, in fact, an antidote to the Satanic tendencies of heavy metal music, rap, hard rock and other forms of excrement we have to listen to daily.

In looking at Christians, I don't look at the truth or falsity of their religion, but at its results. And in general, Christians, like other people of faith, are doing quite well.
Fall on your knees, to hear the angels singing!
O night divine, the night the Christ was born!O night divine, O holy night, O night divine!

One more thing, and please forgive me for it: Anyone have the phone number of their lead soprano? It's only love.

i think they have already convinced themselves that they are the smartest thing the world has ever seen, so they probably dont give a damn what you think anyways.

    *sigh*
i wish i could be as smart as them.

you know peace, i think i was looking to get thrashed. i mean, i knew it was going to happen.
I definatly started out shakey but i think i did alright if you go to the very end.

the whole point of me going there was to see WHY they believe WHAT they believe....which apparently is nothing.

i did find out a lot about their debating tactics so i think i came out the otherside with a lot of useful knowledge.

Then you achieved your purpose. :)
I don't recommend going into things purposefully to get beaten down - just because it's not good for your mind, heart and soul. But if you went in to learn something about them, and you did, then it was worth it.

It takes balls, that's for sure. I am glad you are taking the experience you gained in debating them and I hope you use it for good in future debates. I listen to Rush Limbaugh (when I can) so I can better understand radical Republicans. I want to know what the other side is thinking before I try to debate them, that way I can understand where they are coming from and so I can counter arguments. It sounds like you are thinking the same thing.

    :) Awesome. :)
