I was staying with people in Germany and they were saying that in some instances you only need an ID card to get into countries like switzerland or Austria when using the ICE or the other country bound trains. Though the UK hate the ID card, Europe have shown that it doesn't interfere with people's lives. Infact it is quite a good substitute for your passport. In other words you don't need to take your passport everywhere unless you go out of the Euroland zone.
I agree with the asylum seekers bit etc but er, what does being brown have to do with anything? As a little brown kid i was never blown up. I think i would have noticed. There must be tonnes of little kids which are not brown that are blown up too.
