That is totally different, and a bit fucked up. I mean, I still think that much worse things are not considered abuse, but still..... I don't see why you'd do that.
I don't think trying to get a pet high is that bad of an idea, but don't try to do so by restricting it from the access of oxygen for gods sakes
I have a friend who has given weed to her dieing pets in an effort to ease their pain a bit, like as an edible which I have no problem with. But I used to know another guy who thought it was funny to make his dog drink beer and take bong hits. He would call the dog and she would try to hide knowing what was up but he would chase her down and pin her. This was usually when he was already blind drug. So glad I don't live with him anymore. He was a D bag.
Not intentionally but I had a puppy that loved to chew on most anything. The little guy found some very nice buds on the coffee table and without our knowledge began making a snack out of them. We managed to rescue about half of what he took. He looked drunk, when he walked he staggered. He still had his playfullness. He tried to just sit up and fell over. He seemed mainly sleepy but he would shiver once in a while. My daughter nursed him through the night. I reassured my daughter that he would feel better in the morning (and he was).
My dog doesn't like it, so I don't give any to her. My ex's dog fucking LOVED getting high. She would smell us opening a nug jug from the other room and come running and jump in our lap. After every hit she would lick your face all over and sit and wait for her next turn. If you turned her down she would get all pissy and bark at you. We gave her edibles too, she couldn't get enough! I've seen many dogs love herb, and beer. But also many dogs run from both. Let the dog decide.
Thor, the dog I had that passed away in February was an old "stoner dog" from way back. He would follow the bowl around the room and just sit politely in front of the person that just took a hit, hoping they would blow the smoke in his direction... Preferably into his ear. My other dog, Koa, never did like it so he never got any... I've also had cats that MUST be in my lap if I was smoking. Some animals really do like it (smoke) and it's not harmful, or no more "harmful" than it would be for us. Most "dog medicines" that a vet prescribes are the same as human meds... Our metabolism and chemical makeup are very similar. But they have to make that decision themselves... it shouldn't be forced on them.. I do think alcohol is harmful and wouldn't allow my animals to drink it, I don't drink it myself or at least it's very rare that I drink, but that's another story.
Yeah, I've never let any of my dogs have more than half a beer. With large dogs, I don't think that's all that harmfull. Especially if it's rare occasions. I've seen some total beer hounds though. You'd always have to keep a close eye on your beer or they'd get it soon as you turned your head. My cousin has a bullmastiff that goes ape shit over dark heavy beers. Ive learned never to even set my beer down around her
I remember a dog in the Florida Keys in the '60s that would start hitching rides Friday night and make the bar run from Key Largo to Key West and back in the course of the weekend. All the bar keeps knew him and when he had had his beer and treats he would hitch another ride.
