if you read it like a bible then yea its dangerous but none of us are dumb enough to do that now are weiggy:
harry potter dangerous? no! i'm no fan of the series. the books are not written too well but, dangerous... never. these people think so though. www. godhatesharrypotter.com
I believe that as a book, Harry Potter is probably one of the more dangerous things that have come out for the general sanity of humankind but it doesn't hold a candle to the aesthetic pseudo-literary disaster known as TWILIGHT. Ok I just had to get that off my chest. =)
Why is it dangerous? Isn't this thread just a panic reaction when the films started to be made and the world got to know more about HP? Obviously some stupid idiot is going to do something stupid with a HP in their hand...does this make HP a danger? Not really...when you think of the other myriad of influences stupid people have used to justify their actions. f1gh7er: Last Activity: 04-09-2006 02:58 PM
No XD how can the harry potter books be dangerous??? I have been a fan since i was eight years old...it may be dangerous in the sense that i am completely obsessed but otherwise no lol.
There's no such thing as a dangerous book.Only dangerous people that like to determine that some books are dangerous.
I thought i was a wizard for a couple seconds after i finished one of the books. Thats how good it is. It makes me sad that im not magical. But no, its not a dangerous book.
This reminds me of the recent Penn and Teller 'Bull' episode where they explored the correlation between violent video games and teen violence. well, the only good (non-agenda driven...) studies found no link. In fact, as the video game market has grown the incidence rate of teen violence has gone down. I personally feel that fantasy fiction is a good escape and that anyone who has trouble from such books is going to have trouble regardless. That is my 2 cents for whatever it is worth. TheGrayRaven
I couldn't disagree more strongly. The books are mediocre filled with weak literary devices and god-moded characters which somehow (through weak literary devices) manage to be defeated by children. I have read children's ficition without such fallacies so I do not see that it is a failure of the genre. It has an excellent world construction which draws in the reader. I think perhaps that is why there are so many fan fic/ rpg/ forum sites dedicated to this series. But, in the end, its failure is in its weak plot and overuse of Deus Ex Machina.
Depends how hard you- Oh Oz beat me to it No, I think the debate around this is unnecessary because people go through it LOOKING for something to prove how dangerous it is. They take ancient pagan / wiccan symbols and rituals and relate it to Harry Potter saying it's dangerous, do you think JK Rowling did that while writing the book? Harry Potter is a great book to encourage children to read, and just a great series in general. L_S
I don't know, I was into witches (as were other kids my age) and I didn't go around worshipping the devil or killing people. I guess it depends on the kid.
i dont really think hes that dangerous unless he has his wand and even then he didnt seem to be very good. Anyway i wouldnt worry too much about it if you meet him in a dark ally.
