This is silly. People and times change. Why would you hold someone today responsible for past wrongs?
Canada's system will implode due to the influx of baby boomers demanding treatment. As for the US system, it may cost ya but it is the best on Earth. We get the best and most cutting edge treatments. You guys have to wait til the generic welfare version comes out because you impose price limits, which means that you don't get the drugs for a decade or so. Why, by waving a magic wand? By cutting other programs? Let me guess, the police and military. Let's get guns to the border guards first, they walked off the job again the other day. Without Liberalism (note the CAPITAL L) we wouldn't have official bilingualism, the gutting of education to make way for multiculturalism studies and TV stations in schools rather than teaching how to read and write. We wouldn't have the gun registry , we wouldn't have Adscam, we wouldn't have legions of people sitting around their houses with cable television demanding a free washer and dryer every three years, a cheque every two weeks for doing no work and free toilet paper cause they can't be ARSED to get out and buy some. We wouldn't have jobs leave cause of ludicrous tax demands, we wouldn't have a health care system that fails people.... shall I say more? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA http://www.siu.edu/~journal/IPPASPOY2001/spoy2JW/08fea_jwwco_8cabrini.jpg "CHICAGO’S PUBLIC housing system has been called the worst in the country. It’s not hard to see why. Look at the high-rise buildings in projects such as Cabrini Green on the North Side and Stateway Gardens on the South Side, and you’ll see broken and boarded-up windows on almost every floor. Soot marks remain around many windows where the city never bothered to repair apartments that caught on fire. Puddles of water stand in the hallways, broken light bulbs hang in nearly pitch-black staircases, and graffiti is everywhere. " And lest you say "well that's the Americans" I'm trying to find the name of that project in Toronto in which they decided to give homeless people and other vermin their own room with a key. Turned into a crack den within minutes, there were at least three murders there and women were turning tricks for college students. Naturally, the directors (socialist well educated university activist types) had NO KNOWLEDGE of the drugs or murders, even though the Toronto police had taken three corpses out of there. I hear public housing in Vancouver is considered dangerous, even by gangbangers from L.A. If that's the best in the world, Jesus. I don't want my kids in a program like that thanks. Well, I do. Yes. I worked many a government office in Ottawa, and have friends at the HDRC and other government programs. And what a shame all these highly educated people work at Starbucks as baristas cause there's no good jobs for them to go to. At the warehouse where I was illegally moving boxes, we compared notes. One M.Sc in Chemical Engineering, me with a Bachelor's and college diploma, a third had graduated from law school. In a gym recently I met some icebacks who had come down from Canada to work illegally on construction sites here. One had a degree in aeronautical engineering. He was trying to find and marry an American so he could get a job with Boeing. He had an awesome education BUT NOWHERE TO USE IT. An awesome system eh? That is NOT how it will work. NO THEY DO NOT. My parents fought to try and do that when I was in private school (sent there to avoid the middle school which was a hive of drugs and thuggery). Government said hey if you want private school you're one of those rich people we can rob blind. My parents were FAR from rich. That's exactly what it is. When this program starts it'll be where in Quebec do we set up the headquarters? Once that has a mahogany panelled boardroom and we've hired armies of civil servants to push paper around, then there'll be calls for more funding cause there's "only" 100,000 places or whatever. Mark my words. In other words, the government will run a daycare center and charge the parents who want to use it. And this would be different from private enterprise how? That is NOT the plan by the way. The plan is to jack up EVERYONE'S taxes so that the program is "free" just like "free" health care and "free" welfare money.
So you're saying you have to work? Yeah, me too. And anyone who doesn't is a parasite, glad we AGREE. The guy who I *delivered* books to didn't think so. He was on welfare cause he "found work too stressful". He didn't find staying up til 3 am organising Star Trek conventions stressful though. Correct, it's called vote buying. That's how Europe became a sh*thole, make enough people depend on you for everything and suddenly you get a socialist welfare state. Amazing that in liberal Jolly Olde Englande 70-80% want to leave it. For America. Then they can work harder and afford market prices. SAME AS ME. Of course they are! SEEN IT FIRST HAND.
Here's Denmark, a country which the socialists of Canada would like to emulate: Denmark's government ruled in 2001 that institutionalized citizens have the right to have sex and that caregivers must even take them to visit prostitutes. (Prostitution is legal in Denmark.) According to a January dispatch from Aarhus, Denmark, in London's Observer, Mr. Torben Vegener Hansen, 59, who has cerebral palsy and lives at home on government assistance, is challenging the government also to pay for prostitutes to make house calls, claiming that he is unable to have sex manually because of his illness and must be accorded this "human right" by a service similar to the government's meals-on-wheels program. [The Observer (London), 1-1-06] So not only should food, lodging and money be free, but also shagging? The mind boggles.
Oh nothing. Human nature is clearly as such that we can completely do away with money and have everyone work for the greater public good. That's never been tried before and it's never been a crashing failure. The Soviet Union and China are worker's paradises where everyone has everything he or she wishes.
Where does it say I do? I guess authoritarian communists, feudalists, and fascists are good because the people that did the evil are dead.
No, people do that naturally. Listen, I know you wanna sit around and be an aromatherapist while others dig the ditches and do the heavy lifting, while you swan around your totally paid for everything, but that has never worked and never will.
Come on man where do you get your information or do you just type shit out of your ass? Do a simple google search and find out the truth. It is like you live in a different planet you are greatly misinformed. why are you afraid terrorists are going to attack you? just kidding but most conservatives have an obsession with police and military. It is like you people live in constant fear. False and false. You are an ideologue all that is only bad because it anti conservative. I am a member of the system and the system is the best in the world. It has never failed me and I look forward to making it more stronger, more efficient and faster. It is like all you want to see is failure. How about the other 95% good, i guess that isn't important. Information about a program that doesn't exist. I don't like anecdotes and people who depend on anecdotes to prove their points. then move, you seem to be infested with bad luck. My public school and my area was great, it depends on where you live. I don't see a point. I love Quebec. It isn't people now have choice between public and private. The people will speak what they want. The NDP says it could implement the program without any raise in taxes. Why do you dislike taxes by the way?
From Google: St. Paul, Minnesota -- The American public should dig into the latest World Health Organization (WHO) report before accepting as fact the pronouncement of a poor health care system rating on the United States, according to Citizens' Council on Health Care (CCHC). "Because their report is full of recommendations for centralizing and rationing health care services, the World Health Organization assessment should be viewed with skepticism," says Twila Brase, R.N., president of CCHC. On June 21, 2000 the WHO published a report, which according to their press release is "the first ever analysis of the world's health systems." The overall performance of United States' system was ranked 37th out of 191 countries surveyed, behind first-ranked France, second-ranked Italy, and other European, Island, Middle Eastern and Asian countries. But Brase counters the assertion by noting that the United States ranks first where it matters: in responsiveness to patients' needs for choice of provider, dignity, autonomy, timely care, and confidentiality. "Health care systems were created for patients. Patients want a health care system that responds to the needs and desires of the ill and injured. According to the report, the United States ranks first where it matters most." According to the WHO report, first-rated France ranks 16th or 17th in responsiveness to patients while second-rated Italy ranks 22nd or 23rd. Oman was given a rating of 8 in overall health system performance but ranks only 83rd in responsiveness to patients. Columbia, ranked first in fairness of financing, received only an 82 rating in responsiveness. Morocco, ranked 29th in overall performance was ranked at 151-153 in responsiveness--near the bottom of the list. The same system leaves people to die. There's reasons why people are running south for treatment. Hey, look at what happens when politicians need care. Clark, Chretien and Martin all went South. Oh right, THIS program will be run TOTALLY DIFFERENTLY from any other program the government has ever run, ever. So long as they pay for the public, right? The NDP know as much about finances as an Ilford based gnat knows about life in Beijing. Remember Bob Rae and his ten billion dollar deficit FIASCO? Saying that the NDP can figure out how to do it without raising taxes would be like saying the Catholic Church can figure out how to run an abortion clinic. Why do you dislike taxes by the way?[/QUOTE]
Yes work is necessary for society to function. On the other hand, I find your anecdote hard to believe because my friend is a social service worker and you have to have valid reasons to be on welfare. lol If only the world was this simple to draw conclusions. Working 80 hours a weak and working two jobs aren't hard? Of course they aren't! I seen it first hand.
He had a doctor's note. Convinced the guy with a couple of beers to write a scrip for welfare. Dude, ever been to Europe? A new survey commissioned by One Life Live1 suggests that 86% of UK adults aged between 25 and 54 are disillusioned and dream of improving their lives, a result of a national survey commissioned by One Life Live, a unique event on the 3-5 March 2006 at Olympia, London. Worryingly for Tony Blair a staggering 51% want to leave the UK all together and start a new life abroad It is, and you should be entitled to KEEP that money. What have you seen firsthand?
Denmark is great but like all countries it has its downfalls. Are you saying conservatives are free from double standards?
Human nature isn't something absolute it is changeable and it depends on the environment and culture. Our environment and culture reward capitalistic traits that's why capitalism is flourishing. Capitalism dwells on humanity's negative traits while socialism dwells on humanity's positive traits. Money hasn't always existed.
