I've just been told that I can only speak with someone about housing benefits by appointment only! So I'm booked in tomorrow at 11.45 as a priority as I explained to them that I was desperate, that's fine, it still gives me a day to tell my landlord and try to sort something out with him. Still a pain though, apparently its a new thing due to high demand, they had too many turning up at once to cater for.

Stillcrazy, would it be best to wait until I've spoken to the council properly and then speak to CAB?

I'm not trying to sound cruel here. I am trying the communication the realism of the situation. As a Friend.

    Etherea,

She P.M. to me with the list of expenses.
With the prices that she is currently paying adding council tax to the rent, and gas, electric, sewer, and others.

She could easily find a studio or a one bedroom in Beverley Hills, California. Seriously. Don't believe me? Go do apartment searches, on-line. And Hollywood is way cheaper than that!

If she says at the same place living above the income that she receives, this month, the next month, or the month after that, sooner or later, she WILL lose all of her possessions every thing that she owns.

It won't matter how Full the baby's spare room is because it will all go into a dumpster and be haul to the dump. THAT IS MEANT TO BE A WAKE UP CALL!

Empty the room since it is going to the dump anyway and rent in out to a needy young mother like yourself who is right now homeless. This might or might not make it affordable to continue to say there. Do the Math!

Have Stillcrazy do the math for you. Does not work = Does not work.

    You new to reassess. Everything.

And why doesn't this demanding controlling Jack Ass pay you any child support? In this country he would or he'd be in jail for violating a court order.

Move here! It's much cheaper. You can't afford London at all and there is no read reason for you t be there.
Real reasons are things like your job is there, or military service. Nothing else.

Rents here are £2.60 per month.

I'm sure Stillcrazy knows more about this than me.But I would suggest going to the council first and getting their take on things, which you can then report to someone at CAB,so your legal adviser there will have all the facts to work with.I take it you have applied for housing benefit but it hasn't come through yet? You need someone to chase that up for you.

Not the case. There isn't enough man power in this country to enforce child support laws.

My grandson's father is very close around, living at his parents' off and on, and none of the Sheriff's deputies can "find" him to serve papers to appear before the judge for child support. They "can't" even find him when give a long list of addresses he stays at and frequents. They can't even find him when they knock on the door at his parent's house and his car is in the drive; seems no one answers the door, or if his parents open the door he is not there at the time, just parked his car there.

My grandson is 5 years old and his father hasn't been made to pay a fucking cent toward his support.

Technically you should make your statements to the landlord in writing and always including the day's date.

Easy to do. Say it (whatever you feel that you might need to communicate) typing on your computer. Print 3 copies of the same. Valid evidence.

No one can twist your words later on.

1 for the landlord. 1 for you and hold a copy for whomever. The courts, you worker, your legal person, or just a file copy.

Psychologically and strategically, it will make a much bigger impression on your landlord if you hand them one copy of your statement or communique, and say good bye and you walk away with two or more copies of the same paper. They tend to get it that you know something.

Do it in writing and have copies. So simple.

Hire a P.I. all sheriffs know some friend who is a P.I. Hire a process server. In the phone book.

So, what you're telling her is not to even try? Correct.

I'm going to just bite my tongue.

It's difficult to hire anyone when you're trying to take care of yourself and your child on your own. You have to rely on what help is offered for free.

Here's a suggestion. Listen as well as speak.

It doesn't hurt to have a CAB advisor on your case even before you go to the council. By "the council", I assume you mean the Housing Benefit Office? It won't hurt your case when you see them tomorrow to be able to say, "I've been to the CAB and they say xxxxxxx" Also, have you contacted the Council Housing Department to see about getting a council flat? It would be so much cheaper than a private landlord. If you are threatened with homelessness and have a child, the council would have a duty to house you.

By the way, do you know who your local MP is? If you don't, I strongly advise you to ring up the council offices today and find out a) who is your local councillor and b) who is your local MP. They are VERY useful when you are getting messed around with by the council. I will talk to you about that.

You know, they have Hell's Angel in London. Ranger may be able to trace a few connections.

    Atlanta as well. you know.

Me? If I wanted to serve a lowlife with some legal paper's I find a needy speed freak. Promise them a $40 bag for some real easy work. Bet that would work.

Or a contest. Multiple copies, multiple speedfreaks. The first one to serve him with the papers wins the bag of speed! Horray

I'm sure that was a joke and you thought it was funny.

My daughter wouldn't deal drugs. She has a responsibility to raise her son and not fuck it up.

On the matter of having some help from someone other than LEO, that would probably be the only way he'd get served since he is a former local cop. His "brothers" don't try real hard to find him for this.

My brother had connections with the Outlaws but those connections died with him; not coincidentally, due to Meth.

I will not suppose or condone the contention that there is nothing to be done.

Kenny, its really different here regarding child support. I couldn't just ring up the police and have him arrested for not paying, it doesnt work that way. Ive actually just got off the phone to him, he laughed at me for wanting to move to a more affordable area, preferably in the countryside, told me if I did he would take me to court and he would win the case because of his job probably.

I agree with Aeri, taking care of myself, my child and running a house all by myself is stressful enough, the added stress of having to go through the courts for child support would be too much.

I also wont deal with drugs, the risk of being caught and potentially losing my child outweighs the money that I might get. Plus, I used to be a speed addict and would never be in the same room as it, let alone handle it and fund others addictions, its a horrible thing to be addicted to.

He has told me that he will buy her nappies and food, which is completely unhelpful because she uses reusables and eats the same meals as me rather than the ready made stuff in pots.

    Thanks fair and Stillcrazy.
We are having some lunch then we will go down to the CAB.
The council is the housing benefits office, I am on the council waiting list, I have been for over a year, there are lots of high priority people above me, I've moved up about 5 places since joining the list.

My MP is called Tom :) he is lovely, I met him just after the last election, we are in a lib dem area but unlike Nick Clegg, Tom actually stands by the things that were promised, a very genuine MP, I will contact him if it needs to go that far

  15. Hi! Gonna be out of town for a couple of days. See you Thursday or Friday hopefully! Bye for now! ;)

Good luck with it Mama, let us know how it goes.

I've just dropped a 17th century brass candlestick on my bare arthritic foot and have been swearing and jumping around for the past few minutes. Fortunately the candlestick is unharmed!

Listen to him and listen to Aeri tell you that there is nothing to be done, and you be out on the street in no time. You'll loose everything that you own. I'm so very glad that Aeri can help you to enforce the female idea that you have no choice and you have to remain the victim, forever. Okay. Lay down and die. Victoria Station will keep the rain off of your head in the winter and it's probably a very good place to spare change.

Fairlight, can give you one month's worth of rent but you be thrown out in the second month anyway.

He lives with mum and Dad. He doesn't have to afford. What a man!

You need to talk to legal about his constant threats. Free legal.

You need to do something. If you just sit there, they'll plow the building down around your ears.

You don't get enough money! You can't just dream that you CAN afford it. That won't work.

You need to act. And possible move before they move you. you have 70. you don't have the 800. This is not hard math. This is not hard to understand.
