I was wondering why there's been a pig in a pit out back cooking slowly for at least a couple of days now. lol Living in the islands as a youngster I learned the proper attire for men at such an event is a 'lavalava'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2pQvg-TX8w"]How to tie a lava lava - YouTube

Happy Birthday Jack!!! Happy Luau, Hippies!!! I went to get fresh flower Leis for everyone and these traditional dancers followed me home from the flower market. They will entertain tonight after dark; until then, they will be our guests.
Glad I am wearing a sarong I don't think I could do a lavalava even thought I am normally good with fabric, knitting and crochet and such. the food sounds lovely although I will probably stick with the non meat varieties. In real life I am having a hard time facing fixing anything at all for dinner. But I will have to put something together. Vegy burger sounds relatively painless. I am not looking forward to tonight. The fireworks are scheduled. They are less than three blocks from me (I can see most of the sky ones from my living room window although the tree in the front yard blocks some of it.) The problem is that I go to bed early and will be woken at 10 when they start. Grace (dog) will be afraid. It is just too loud. Like canons going off for at least a half hour. Then after that all the smaller fireworks people will set off as they walk back to their homes or cars. There is an ally on my side of the apartment building and a lot of kids set off whatever down there. Perhaps the heat will keep some of the people away but I am not counting on it. A lot of the jerks that would set this stuff off actually live in my building. Hope everyone has a safe 4th of July. MamaPeace: In the dream we shared a hug. Sending it to you now. :grouphug:
