i know i am new here so it isnt like you would know me if there was a meetup. but i have some air miles to burn so depending on the date i would ask if anyone minds if i join the get together. im in the DC area but atlanta is the closest major city for me to fly to.

Good Morning,

We Got Rain!!! Yay.. It's been in the triple digits here for two weeks and this is the first rain we've had. The Garden is slowing down in the heat.

Tyr, back in the 50s/60s, when things started to 'change' as the Age Of Aquarius was on the rise. It was told to me by my Father that we were to go to Utah, to the Snake River where there are large caves in the mountains where ppl could live.

The mountains at the Snake River are full of lead ore and radio-active fallout could not penetrate the walls of the caves.

My Father had 'trained' us girls, his daughters, in the Art Of Survival since we were wee children. Twice a yr we would travel to the Wilderness and set up camp. We each had our Backpacks and Survival Belts. We also had rifles, which Daddy had taught us to use, clean and when they were to be used. I was seven when I learned to Choot.

We had fishing kits in our belts, canteens and Pilot Biscuts, with a Roll of hard Salami. We each had Snake Bite kits/first aid kits, a Compass, Walkie Talkies a Map and a small shovel for digging. We carried our own backpacks with our Tarp Tents and Sleeping bags, clean dry socks, warm clothes and cooler clothes, a pair of boots and a pair of sneekers.

We would set up our camp and live off what we would catch, if we didnt catch anything we would eat pilot biscuts and hard salami. My mother would bring staples like beans and rice, coffee, sugar, salt/pepper and assorted dried fruit.

As we grew and learned how to survive. We were being trained for the coming Apocalypse that would wash over the Earth.

My Father studied the best strategical Natural Fortress where humans could survive and decided that the Snake River Caves would be the best place to go.

I believe that a woman started a colony there a little while later in the middle 60s I think. I cant recall her name but I am sure someone will remember and comment on it.

 

I made some Scones and Croissants that are cooling on the rack. If anyone is interested I made Watermelon Pickles and some Passion Fruit Jam to go with them. There's Canadian Bacon and Cream Cheese there in the Lazy Susan if your so inclined.

I picked a basket of fresh Strawberries and Raspberries and they are washed and ready to munch. Help yourselves

I am happy to have a few minutes to hang out with you all. I know I've been very busy in the Garden this yr. It's been a bumper crop of everything. My hands and finger have been stove up for the past few days since there has been a break in picking and canning and is why I have not been typing.
