Thanks for the coffee, Ty. You're a buddy!

Ranger is in room #6 on the second floor.

I'm going to eat now and perhaps feel like some conversation, music, and whatever other antics you beautiful people have in mind tonight. ;)

    @kenny...
that's a good question but also a difficult one...:)
I do not think the room changed who I am really..
fact is that in this house we learn about other folks..
how they think and look upon this world...
    we can ALWAYS learn something..
as tyrson says...music is important for a good feeling..
I think this house gives us the opportunity..
to look at the world, not only through our own eyes...
but also through the eyes of our housemates..
their way of thinking, filosofy and wisdom..
gives us a better insight in oneself..and the whole world..
being a hippie is a state of mind..and it will always be like that..:hippy:
that's about all for this morning..I lack bit of inspiration(ah)
gonna shove my feet under the breakfast table, folks
the day announces itself as very sunny..it's about 9.23h here..
probably it invites me to open the throttle of my bike today..

I gotta tell ya- I look forward to checking out my new found friends in our house everyday- It puts me in a happier mood, than I usually am- . and I love imagining that we all REALLY are under the same roof when in reality we are miles away- Just a terrific way to spread/& receive good karma with good people :grouphug:

  6. Yeah, it's all good. I can't explain it properly but it's like we're keeping it real in an imaginary sort of way ;) Anyway I'm just back from a 2hr hike in 35ºC (95ºF) and am sitting here trying to cool off a bit with the windows and doors open but there's not one fucking drop of fresh air anywhere! Not to worry, a cup of green tea and one of those excellent pancakes left over from yesterday and I'll be right! I saw an old fan up the road next to the dumpster and I'm going to try and get it going. TY, I'm in dire need of a small phillips screwdriver if you've got one in your workroom!

    Thanks for the java, man!

I snuck out this morn and got another little tidbit from the surplus electronics... The guy just gave it to me instead of ringing it up. I am getting closer to having all my computers on battery backup... :2thumbsup: If we have more storms like last night it's going to be mandatory.

I'm gonna be in the studio hooking up wires...

I keep hearing ads and talk among both survivalist types and back to the landers of 'solar generaters' Most of the time when the power goes here it's a storm that can last a week or more. Now solar???

There's two ways of doing solar. With one you have to convert the DC to AC so it can run your existing house wiring and appliances... This is very inefficient. The second way is to replace all appliances with DC units, like you might find in a camper van... Much more efficient but also costly and hard to find many items.

A combination of solar and wind power generation, with a combination of the two above methods of wiring and application would get you off the grid and keep many of the items you may be using now.... (fridge/computer/lighting/stereo system/etc. etc.)

I wanted to do this so bad when I had my cabin out in Mariposa CA. I just couldn't handle the costs involved to get started with it.

A wood burning generator? Solar-plants-genorator...When I was collaborating on the "Cannibis Papers" I saw lots of papers asserting that the biomass of one years growth of cannibis acre for acre far excedes any tree crop in energy yield as a fuel. I'm aware that mega watt genarators power cities burning coal, but are home size units easily obtainable?

Not that I know of... Of course I'm not an expert on that subject. New stuff comes along every day, but I think the problem with that is what to do with the heat loss. It's wasted energy during summer months at least.
