Smelly??? What's the point of pointing out that your feet are smelly? Are you proud of that?

Feet are smelly only when they are enclosed in shoes all the time. People who go barefoot all the time don't have smelly feet. Sometimes people have to wear shoes of course, like to work or something, in which case the feet may get smelly by the end of the day - caused by shoes already contaminated by sweat and dead skin cells - but I don't see that as something we need to proudly point out here on a forum that's ostensibly about the benefits of going barefoot.

Perhaps, but those kinds of "jokes" just perpetuate the negative stereotype that most of the public has of bare feet. And this forum is a publicly read forum. Most of us who are regular barefooters know that bare feet don't smell as a rule, but wearing filthy shoes constantly will cause an odor that transfers from the inside of the shoes to the feet. But to most of the general public, "bare feet smell" - period. Someone posting something like "Here are my smelly feet" just reinforces that belief. Those of us who go barefoot on a regular basis usually try to do all we can to make barefooting more acceptable to others. Talking about our stinky feet, though a joke it may be, sure doesn't help the image of barefooting.

Most of the public doesn't read 25 pages into a thread about barefooting and pictures of feet. I doubt anyone but barefooters/supporters are reading this thread much.

Anyways, it's not that I disagree with you, I just didn't see that instance as anything other than a cute remark for a caption.

 

Dude, you need to smoke a joint and relax, or just get a life.

Don’t be so worried about what I post, specially when I’m saying something about my feet, not yours, or anyone else's.

It was just a joke! You would think I was responsible for someone's death.
With all the truly terrible things going on in this world, don’t worry about what I say about my feet.

I'm not worried about it. Just remember, you're posting to the world, and whatever you say is open to comments from others reading it. I made my comments, expressed my opinion. Sorry if you don't like what I said.

I just said I don't think it's a good idea to perpetuate the myth that bare feet stink. Maybe you don't care and think it's no big deal. That's fine. That's all you need to say. No, it doesn't approach responsibility for a death, and you know that. So why make such a big deal out of it?

So, with all the terrible things going on in this world, why are you posting about your smelly feet? The thing is, this is the Bare It forum, not the "terrible things going on in this world" forum. But whatever you post, whether it's here or on another forum, you're putting that out to the world as fair game for comments, and they may not always be to your liking. Same with me, I know what I post on here may not always be agreeable to everyone reading. But I think most of us are mature enough to have an intelligent discussion about issues we don't agree on. That's the purpose of a discussion board anyway, to discuss - not necessarily to always agree.

 

How about we agree to disgaree and I hope their's no hard feelings.
