Although it's not better than the original (which is the greatest horror movie of all time, btw), I thought Rob Zombie's Halloween remake was superb, and doesn't deserve all the shit it gets. It's probably my most watched movie of all time, to be brutally honest.

I thought it was a good movie. I wasn't expecting a 100% following of the original script like so many had. I like the angle Rob took to create an entirely new movie with a different set of circumstances. I like how Rob found a very large and intimidating guy to play Michael. I could believe someone like him could lift someone by the neck or stomp a hole through someone's forehead. the original Mike looked average (but still scary with his William Shatner mask!) and it was hard to think of some average man overpowering all in his path. I like how brutal Rob wrote the deaths. It was never going to be a stab in the guts and a few screams. I like the brutal multiple stabbings and the serious intent behind the deaths. It made Michael's character more realistic.

I don't associate or even compare Rob's Halloween to the original. I consider Rob's version to stand alone as a different angle on the story of Michael Myers.

Wow, I wasn't aware it "got shit" at all! Everyone I know loves it (as long as they are a horror fan- the pansies that aren't just don't get it. ;)).
I've been a fan since I was small. Love the whole series. The only one I can't watch is Resurrection. Obviously the new one isn't as good as the original, but the original was something unique in it's day, and you really can't duplicate that. It's cool that RZ's have made the villain scary again, since for a while, I was watching them more in a fangirl "Team Michael" kind of way. Then the remakes came out and I about shat myself.

Yeah, the original is still the best, and hey lets not forget, Halloween H2O,that was a great one to, but you're so right Firefly, Resurrection is not something easy to watch, especially after the great H2O, man I love Halloween and Horror!

Since you seem to be an expert on the subject I have a question; do you know if Michael Myers is virgin?

I know he’s penetrated his share of teenage girls with his knife, but is the knife his substitute for the other mechanics of nature.

    Fuck yeah.
I was just having this discussion with my fiancee. About this movie. It is fucking brilliant. I am a hardcore Rob Zombie fan. It blew me away that all of the scenes between Malcolm McDowell and the kid were improvised. Zombie would make a comment about "Black is the absence of color" and it would end up in an improvised conversation. The fact that he also said that "21 Grams" was a reference for how he shot the movie. I'm starting an appreciation thread.

    Peace Out,
    Rev J
