Now the Supreme Court has eliminated all restrictions on political advertising by corporations, so the last shred of input into the political process by ordinary voters should vanish immediately. Democracy, as we once knew it, died yesterday after a long, debilitating illness.

Ordinary citizens still have the right to one vote. Corporations may control the media but they have no real votes.

    True...

Regrettably the vote is cast from a list of candidates who are likely already in corporate pockets... they vote with piles of cash that will have a far greater influence over policy written while what is done anonymously behind the curtain of a voting booth selects whom the political infrastructure deems worthy to be on the ballot- we choose who implements policy that will go forward regardless of who takes the oath of office.

You don't understand how it works. Filibuster rules allow the minority party to more or less run the show.

    WAKE UP

Your political system is fucked up

You have two political parties of the right – one right and another further to the right

Both in hock to and so to one extent or another owned by wealth

Both to one degree or another both their thinking and policies are based on ideas and ideologies that ultimately service and perpetuate a wealth dominated political structure

It was bad enough before the resent Supreme Court ruling on election finance, but now…

I feel like I’m watching a slow motion train crash, while the people on board bicker about whether to have mild or strong cheese (although they both stink).

First you need to realise you have a problem

Then you need to see that the dominate ideologies of the last thirty years are just plain wrong.

It has to be realised that wealth’s power cannot be harnessed for the public good because most of its instincts run contrary to the public good.

And it is no good looking to the long dead ‘founding fathers’ for guidance it was they that created a system that would be wealth dominated.

Basically just as there is a very correct separation of church and state so there should be a separation of wealth and government.
