circumcision is actually routine enough here in america. that if this were necessarily true, the centers for disease control and the world health organization wouldn't be reporting a sharp increase in the rise of sexually transmited diseases. i think they're just trying to sell off this old barbaric practice to people who are already open to the ideas which abrahamic religion imposes on western civilization.i have friends who were never circumcised as children and their genitals haven't rotted off yet. one of them had a kid awhile back and the other one is getting ready to. anyone who is too primitive to wash their junk with soap and water might as well go back to eating bugs and building their homes out of mud and sticks.

look out!!! your foreskin is spontaneously generating std's!!!
how about we teach boys why they need to wash their penises rather than cutting part of them off? and define "std" -- a simple, perfectly curable infection due to unwashed foreskin? 10 seconds of soap, or surgery? hmmmm. tons of guys disregard washing their foreskin just like tons of women disregard breastfeeding their children and place them alone in separate rooms at night... people are fucking morons because society perpetuates retarded values and teaches worthless crap and is (still) uptight about a lot of these things being taught to young people

these "std's" that are brought up in regards to the foreskin are nothing but a basic infection that is easily diagnosed and cured and really would only occur in the dumbest, dirtiest of people; basically these would be men who don't even run water over their foreskin, who completely ignore the fact that their genitals smell of rotted corpse. any other "std" would be an std that we've all heard of before, and most likely be contracted / spread regardless of whether the man was cut or not. in any case the person being skrewed would have to be infected in the first place in the case of "std" as you all know them... this is just retarded

it's amazing that we don't just look at the facts and figures, every country with similar socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds has a tremendously lower rate of std's as well as low circumcision rates

finland for example has a circumcision rate near 0% but they have only 1/6 the percentage of people with aids, this is similar for the rest of he european countries as well as for various std's

Yep, as I pointed out back on 06-16-2007, there's a fine experiment going on with mostly-circumcised Americans on one side of the Atlantic, and mostly-intact Europeans on the other. Who has the most STDs and the most AIDS? To be honest, I haven't looked up the answer, but I don't think the Europeans are that much less healthy. More so, I would guess.

    And I just saw this:
    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/08/health/research/08hiv.html?ref=health

WASHINGTON (Reuters) — Circumcision reduces the risk of AIDS in men who have sex with women, but there is not enough evidence to show that it has a similar benefit in sex with other men, researchers are reporting.

“Over all, we’re not finding a protective effect associated with circumcision for gay and bisexual men,” said Gregorio A. Millett of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the lead author of a report that appears Wednesday in The Journal of the American Medical Association.

Of course, in Africa it is the case that AIDS is spread mostly by heterosexual contact. That isn't true in Europe or America.

OK, OK! Neither side has any idea of what the other side feels, Cutted notwithstanding. He loves to speak without training, pontificate without ordination, and doctor without education. He's a lawyer for pete's sake. Just everyone learn this fact: approx. 450,000 circumcised men died of AIDS in the first wave of the disease to hit the US. For all the studies recommending mutilation - nothing prevented the deaths and nothing will bring them back. We're toying with peoples' lives here and amputation of seven square inches of skin has not, does not, and will not prevent the killer. Safe sex will. Looking for a way other than safe sex may be as the alchemist looking for ways to make gold. Nada! You get wonderful protection from safety.

I have an 18 month old son who is not circumcised. Why? Simply because I don't believe in it. The USA is the only country who use to routinely circumcise boys. I did the research before I made my final decision. What I found was that if you properly clean the uncircumcised penis there is nothing that shows it is any "dirtier" than an uncircumcised one. Recently the USA has stopped routinely circumcising boys, this is actually because insurance providers have now decided that it is a cosmetic surgery so insurance providers do not HAVE to cover the circumcision anymore. Now I know a lot of insurance companies still do but a lot of them have stopped, so if you want your son circumcised it can cost you out of pocket at least $300, this was my winning argument with my husband who apposed my view.

As for any health risk yes technically if you are not circumcised you stand more risk to contract an STD, yeast infection, any type of infection down there, BUT if you clean the penis properly you will have as much risk of these as you would if you are circumcised.

On another note a friend of mine who is also against circumcision said that any one who wants to circumcise their son should first watch a video of it being done. I agree with her, so for those who are interested I looked up a link for it, however, if you are easily grossed out I would not watch it. The video actually made me cry and want to throw up I couldn't watch it all the way through, and am happy I didn't do this to my son.

"The authors estimate that had routine neonatal circumcision been in place, the rate of sexually transmitted infections in the current cohort would have been reduced by roughly 48 percent." What a crock of feces!

Hasn't anybody noticed that there are two factions that are promoting mutilating boy babies' sex organs? The religious nutballs and people that make a monetary profit from this barbaric practice!

Consider that "snipping off a little piece of useless foreskin" is exactly the same thing as smipping off a little piece of the clitoral hood on girl babies. How about removing their inner labia also? After all, this is where smegma is produced!

This is the 21st century and it's time that we discard the superstitions of the past.

    Stop the barbarism now!

do you really think it would, we did evolve to have matching sex organs that work well together, if a foreskin was not an advantage natural selection would have favored shorter and shorter foreskins

This post should be required reading for anybody who may ever be in a position to decide whether or not to mutilate a helpless baby's genitals.

IMO, mutilating a baby's genitals on the grounds that it might one day prevent an std is a little like cutting off a girls breasts when she hits puberty...because, after all, 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer in their life, and I'm willing to bet if we cut off breasts as a standard procedure, we'd see a huge drop in the rate of breast cancer...
