48 people murdered in a population of 7.5 million
50 people murdered in a uk population of 60 million

so if you multiply the swiss figures exactly 8 times you will have
384 people dead in a population of 60 million. In Britain that is more than the number of British soldiers we had killed in Iraq last year. Statistically we would be safer in Iraq. That is the predicament the USA is in - your fuckin soldiers are safer in Iraq than the USA !!!!!!!

now lets expand the figures further because the swiss population turned int the uk pop is now 60 million with 384 people dead from gunshot

so lets times that by 5 to get a USA population
384 times 5 = 1920

Bingo - the usa has more guns per head and therefore higher death rate than switzerland also they are better disciplined as shown by a less marked crime rate and the fact that they have the richest population in europe bar lichtenstein

YUP, they're "gun crazy" alright. This thread has turned into the definition of gun crazy.

I hate "facts and figures". They can be manipulated and changed and used in much the same way as the bible can be used to "prove a point".

I hate guns. But I'm NOT going to be the one to blame them for a bunch of murders and I'm not going to be the one to say there has to be another GOD DAMNED BAN. If people were not so over-protected from themselves and ruled to death maybe they would find that they actually have MINDS that can THINK FOR THEMSELVES and gain some respect for their tools and each other and stop beating each other up so much.
The whole arguement is stupid. Just more swimming thru jello. Facts are facts. Guns are tools. Some people use them wrong. That's all. Everything else is just opinion. And as they say, opinions are like assholes....

If this is true then that is appalling. This is exactly one of the reasons why I was interested in this debate. It has flown off the handle quite a bit, and it's a shame that everyone got so angry with each other.

I think that it is worth saving not just America, but the whole world. It is not just America's world. It is all our world. Whether you're from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas, Australasia, we have to work together to find solutions.

We can't leave things to get to the point of no return.

We must try and get this debate back on course, and try and be civil even with those that don't agree with us.

Make the person who disagrees with you listen to you. The best way to do that is to also listen to him or her.

We can do this people. We are not dumb.

So just to get back into course and work a solution:

Does the fact that the head of state of the United States of America admitting that his country is now more violent than the conflict he created in Iraq, signify that something drastic needs to be done to redesign the 2nd Ammendment so that firearms are not as readily available as Hershey bars?

Well, I read that article a couple times and NOWHERE does it say the pres claimed the US is more violent than Iraq. Where did you hear that? The article said quite the opposite actually. What he said was that there is an "acceptable" level of violence in the US and he hoped that Iraq could eventually find that level, and if they did, he would consider it a success...

 

That is not what is coming up on my screen earthmother. That is why I asked for confirmation. Can anyone else verify what is going on, just to make sure?

Can you check please the link provided by Raysun, because I think that we are getting a different message in Europe and a different one in the USA. Does the link say that America is as violent as Iraq, or something along those lines, or does it say something else?
