Did anyone happen to notice that some are comparing gun deaths in the US to gun deaths in the UK?

And did anyone happen to notice that we have 6 times the citizenry that the UK has?

Don't make us come over there with 300 million cricket bats...

In the United States, vehicles fatalities have increased slightly from 40,716 in 1994 to 42,884 in 2003. Do 40.884 people die each year in vehicle accidents in the U.K ?

Read through the thread. Again, the references were to percentages of the population.

Do you understand what this means? I means the population size is irrelevent [IMG]

How about if not cops as guards, at least teachers allowed to carry a pistol under the desk madatory. With permission to shoot anyone coming in shooting.

OK my comments about the USA at the end were fairly harsh, and no I also hate the fact that the UK is the most watched country in the world, don't get me wrong.

But ya know, I don't feel the need to own a gun here in the UK, I think the ideology of criminals must be completely different, because even if my house got broken into (very unlikely if I was at home) then I wouldn't feel any safer because I had a lethal weapon.

Some other Europeans get in on this! Do you feel you need a gun?

The fact that Americans feel they need a gun is a very sad reflection on your society, you can't argue that.

    Aaaand here we are:

Let's call it 65 a year. Seems fair to me.

    ---------------------------
    PRE-EDIT:

Can anyone find an unbias source for US fatal shootings a year? It's well hard to find... numerous searches return fuck all, maybe a few bias sources.

    Right, Americans... answer this.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_school_massacres

Scroll down that list. I'd suspect at least 95% of worldwide school massacres have happened in the USA. Go on, read it. Someone do the maths, work it out. I'm sure I won't be far off.

How is it not a wake-up call?

take off caps lock, it's the equivalent to SHOUTING ON THE INTERNET and it's fucking annoying.

no, i don't see myself as inferior to anyone. i just don't feel the need to own a gun or a "guard" as you put it.

read my previous post. i hope you are happy that guns are legal in your country. the blood of so many children is on your government's hands.

Why did the British goverment stab you in the back . ? British did own fireams ! granted a poor person in Britain was very likely not having one for financial reasons . "this is universal" . Lets say a British subject used "stole" a tank from a collector to run down several hundreds of people at a soccer game is that a reason to ban WWI or WWII battle tank from collectors? "this tank dont have a working main gun" . "or any guns" or plunge into the crowd with a restore Spitfire? .

What the fuck? That makes no sense.

Look at the link. Guns being used to kill innocent children is hardly a one off, is it?

And that's just a small % of the killings over all ages! If people were being killed by tanks everyday, then there probably would be sanctions against the ownership of tanks [IMG]

Come up with a decent argument mate, you are talking shit.

Um... and what has this got to do with the gun control debate?

I am very critical of my country and it's past, but that's a whole different discussion... stop trying to "beat me" over things that are completely irrelevant to the argument! You won't find me condoning many of the UK's actions in the past, actually. Or now.

April 15, 1989 - Sheffield, England; 95 people are crushed to death at an English FA Cup semifinal game between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, when police open gates to alleviate crowding outside Hillsborough Stadium. The resulting rush of people onto the already filled terrace sections traps fans against riot control fences ringing the field.
