Too long to read? Well I guess metal heads are lazy as well. I didn't like Korn, I was more into Mayhem, (which if you examime their story proves everything I said about metal and what's wrong with the people who participate in it). A bunch of rude, sick people who thought it was cool to feast on the brains of their dead friend. This is metal, this is the lifestyle. They are assholes in interviews, it's the culture, you have to be mean or you won't sell records. Also bands like Dark Funeral, Cradle of Filth. The type or bands who were very up front about their satanic beliefs. I was a young teen and I am just thankful I was able to meet some friends who showed the way of peace. I expected those of you on here to become offended, I only hope you do not continue down this path. You always have a choice.
Guess they all have to be, that was the ultimate proof right? :2thumbsup: It's not useful to project Mayhem's story to other bands. Let alone to whole other subgenres that also happens to be called metal. Why judge metal as a whole because of one subgenre (or couple of bands) you dislike? It is not. How gullible are you? Wouldn't there be a lot more bandmembers be missing No shit, Sherlock!:
Well, at least unfocusedanakin chose a suitable name for himself. Saying he isn't seeing clearly on this issue would be a wild understatement to say the least! There are many metalheads who are peace loving, just as there are many people who listen to other genres of music who are anything but peace loving. I only hope he doesn't continue down this path. His ridiculous generalising is a classic case of ignorant and lazy thinking.
Honestly dude, your ignorance is disappointing and I expected better out of you. If you going to go the ''moral pedestal'' route, you should know that peace is inside of you, and that aggression, satanism, violence, whatever, is just another part of the human experience and should be embraced just like everything else. I am a metal head myself. Always will be. I am also a very peaceful person. That doesn't mean I can't appreciate that facet of music or human emotion. You are NOT following the middle path right now. You just went from one extreme to another. Back then you were all about the evil, now you are all about the peaceful. You are clinging to something, and that is fleeting. There can be peace in mayhem. If you can't bare to look at it, you should have a look at yourself.
Chuck Schuldiner wore shirts with cats and kittens on them in the early 90's. lol Then again, I think personality wise, Chuck was very different from Richard Christy.
Why let your listening experience get ruined by the shirt of the musician anyway? Although I can understand it it just feels kinda weird and pointless to me. I guess if I like the music I just going to enjoy that music. Being a fanboy and look into the sympathies or media horny behaviour of your idols will only dissappoint you I still really dig some satanic black metal but do I care if they mean it serious or not? Not really. I know that I don't take it too serious and that it is superb music.
You're absolutely correct. I'd probably only listen to a tiny fraction of the bands I listen to now, if agreeing with a band's/band member's views was a criteria for me being able to enjoy their music. I can listen to a satanic black metal band like Dissection for example, and thorougly enjoy their music even though I myself am not satanic. Dave Mustaine (a "Christian") is someone I really dislike as a person, but that doesn't stop me from loving Megadeth's music. Sure, if I identify with a band's ideology then that will make me embrace them more than a band who's ideology I totally disagree with, but that isn't a deciding factor on whether or not I can enjoy a band's music or not.
i am 27 years old. and has my dad said to my yesterday. "son you where born disco but you will die metal". i love heavy metal. i admit there was a period when i stop listening to it because i got into another music. but i got back into it. and i love it more now than ever. i dont know where this idea come from that metal was only for teens and kids. once a headbanger always a headbanger in my opinion.
Me either. If you really love it, you'll stick with it. Some bands will go away, because what sounds good when you're new to music changes a little bit over the years. But on the whole you'll be listening to the same stuff ten years later, twenty, maybe even when you're in a retirement home in diapers. But you never know if you'll live that long, so listen to it every chance you get and enjoy every second.
So I've learned some people take metal too seriously. Relax its a genre of music not satanic Charles Manson worship. I mean what is this, the metal version of Reefer Madness?
haha i know this is an opinion that i have that really go against the grain in this community but i just cant stand them
