For almost two years now, I've been a vegatarian... My mother thought I was kidding, but yeah. I love that my family supports me, with this. I want to also, go vegan. But I can't not at this age at least, I am still growing up, and I, have a guilty pleasure, of ice cream, and cheese... Sorry cow. But doesn't it hurt the cows, to not be milked?... I am against how ppl treat the source their food comes from, though. [[[Hugs for the cow.]]]

My name is Thea. I've been a pescotarian for 4 years. I hardly eat eggs, but I'm not sure if I can give up dairy. It's almost impossible to be vegan in Norway, especially if you wanna go out to eat at a resturant. Besides, I have a family of farmers, so it's not the easiest subject. I'm not sure if I'm gonna go vegan, but I'm defidently gonna learn more vegan cooking og stuff like that.
    Make tea, and love:)

My name is Chely, and I've been vegetarian for, oh...about an hour. LOL. I was a vegetarian for about 4 years (age 16-20) and went back to eating meat. I've been wrestling with going back to it, and I made the decision today to do it. I'm 22 years old.

Hi Im Maxi, Im nearing 21 now
Turned vegetarian at 12 after seeing a documentary about the welfare of pigs, and hearing about health benefits. It took me a while to transition, being so young, and I was pescatarian for a while. I was fully veg by 15
Turned vegan at 18 and have been since, making that nearly 3 years
So all in all around 8 years veg/pesc and 3 vegan
I try and eat a lot of raw foods but really I love cooking too much to do a proper raw food eating plan. That said, I do love my fruits and veggies too
I have a vegan husband which is handy! He went vegan a week or so after meeting me

    Dragonvine, howdy all :)

I've been podering the thought of veggieism for a while... possibly a couple of years, but always argued with my vegan brother that I liked the taste of meat too much. A week ago I fell across a thread on here that got my arse into gear to actually think about it properly. I turned veggie/going vegan that day :) Now I can't stand the the though of eating dead animal flesh, even if it tastes good. It's a dead animal. With some paprika.

Now I've switched to a milk and soya alternative so no milk or eggs, unless its in a tin of veggie curry... Mmm :) So I'm taking the vegan thing slowly. I also am partial (in love with) a bit of cheese ^^ Not sure how long it'll take me to stop eating that, but I would like to maybe become vegan in the future. Thanks to this forum I've had alot of support :)

Oh gosh I haven't been on the hip forums in forever! But I just realized that I recently had my vegetarian birthday! Yay me. It has been a whole year and I am so proud of myself. This is the 3rd time I have tried to be vegetarian and this time it actually stuck. I'm a veghead for life now. I guess 3 times is a charm! hehe. So happy veggie birthday to me!

(the official birthday I believe was January 6th, but I'm slow, lol).

A cows milk is made for the baby cows. If intensive farming didnt exist, the milk would be drank by the baby cow as was intended. Aside from that, not even all human females breastfeed, and although this may cause discomfort for a while it doesnt take long for all to feel normal again. Also infact the contrary to your statement is true-it is milking that can hurt the cows, who are often kept in a constant state of pregnancy (or why else would she be lactating?) and can develop painful mastitis or tumours from overstretched and overworked udders. Not to mention all that extra weight theyre carrying around giving them sores and painful joints. There are lots more points about why the dairy industry is so hurtful to cows, do some research if you want to know more, it is worth it
