Particularly if its used to create a 'proper' (free at the point of need) health service, similar to the original intention of the National Health Service here in the uk.

People don’t seem to mind paying much more for free market goods and service as a result of predatory capitalism but squawk about taxes for education and parks. This is a result of the people have the bulk of the wealth paying far less than their fair share and the incessant barrage of propaganda from the right that somehow there is not a community interest and the wealth should be even more concentrated. In the US we need a real potent socialist presence and bury all the propaganda arround since the 19th century that wealth is more important than people.

Labour PM Tony Blair was the one responsible for selling off parts of the NHS with PPPs in 1997, and the one to sell the railways in 2006

Yet again you're talking utter bullshit !!! - British Rail (that was) was privatised and sold off under John Major's premiership. As to (PPP ???) I think you mean PFI - these too were commenced under that bitch Thatcher and then Major's premierships - both of whom you will notice belong to the scumbag 'nasty party' !!!

Part of the problem is that out of sight out of mind... If people don't see it on the front page, they think it isn't happening or something. Kind of like the social attitudes in the U.S. right now about gun control or the lack there of. If it's not on the news right this instant, attitudes seem to be more relaxed. Then Beto O'Rourke calls it quits and nobody bats an eye. :)

It's not that people are pretending.. they're just overwhelmed and, like Soul says, don't go looking past the headlines.
I'm annoyed as hell that I can watch the news three times a day and see the same stories, whilst stuff like this gets ignored.
But this one isn't about individuals needing to do more, or not caring...
News corporations SHOULD be headlining this stuff. And if I watch the news three times in a day it should be different every time.

All I can remember from the news in the last few days is those 39 Vietnamese found dead in a lorry in Essex, which they bring up again every time there is the tiniest development, and Brexit.

But thank you for posting the story, VG.
As individuals I guess we can do more by sharing these stories.

Intriguing that VG cannot or will not answer the question I posed, notwithstanding he professes to know a lot about british politics. In this instance I apparently have 'caught him out' good and proper !!!

For others on here who are not old enough to remember or didn't have an interest in politics at the time - the answer to the question I posed VG is: The scumbag 'nasty party' !!!

This was all over the news here in Canada, as well as the international news that I follow. What do you mean?

Its was an EU directive that forced you guys to deregulate the rail industry. And Tony Blairs (Labour) wonderful PFIs that put the final nail in the coffin

Your commie friends in the EU and Comrade Blair. Bet you didnt even know that directive existed
