I've only been there once, to see a Pearl Jam concert. Just seemed like any other city to me! I haven't been to Liverpool. I suppose it depends what you look for in a place! What you like doing and stuff. I'm sure you could find interesting things wherever you went : )
I am really hoping to make it to Southern Spain and/or Morocco. Utah, or Arizona perhaps. Other than that most of my travel plans tend to be not planned too far in advance.
Yeah for me a city is a city doesn't matter where you are, it's the same. I go to Australia, same shops, go to America, same shops. It's as if the whole world went chain and I wouldn't have thought that. Even the same gyms. That's what I'm a rural adventurer. I got to places visitors don't. But I feel I'm not going to soak in culture while I'm in a city. You just get drunk around the same fools you always do. So I take to the towns and villages, or those off highway cities you d don't even really know are there. Last time we did Central Euro we motor home in a small van, camped in camp grounds, truck stops etc. When I did America we drove through all the southern states going to small places we'd never heard of.
I would love to go to Morocco. And Spain again. Especially the south. I've never been. Ooooh and Portugal. Drink porto, listen to fado. Dance.
There are places in mind but haven't booked anything.....yet. South America and Bermuda. There are still places in America i've yet to explore that have also been in the back of my mind. Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, The Hawaiian Islands. I have family in Arizona i've been wanting to visit one day, so we'll see. Europe seems to be a popular choice but i never saw the appeal.
I do wish people would be more specific when they say Europe. Is it Ukraine? Montenegro? Finland? France? You know...a lot of diversity there.
No, never saw much appeal. Well maybe Italy. I don't see it as being too much different than America culture wise.
Disagree on Europe being the same as America. So many little things as a whole between all the countries that the US does not do. They have a lot of American music and TV but they also have local stuff.
Other than chain stores there's not much the same between Europe and America, but.to me a city is still a city. Different language, different things to look at. Europe has always been popular for history buffs. I know a lot of Asians love seeing our castles and cathedrals. I love watching Asian tourists. They're just so generic and stereotypical though lol. But it's cute. My Chinese friend, she's completely westernised with no Asian accent. Sometimes a tour guide will throw her into a group and she's like errr I'm not with them! One time we ferry down the Rhine, seriously people need to consider a Rhine ferry stopping at villages for wine tasting. Anyway we did that and some old woman guide from Frankfurt grabs my Chinese friend and pushes her with the tour group, my friend said I'm not with them and the woman wouldn't listen. She pointed.. You.. Team china! I felt embarrassed at the ignorance.
Seeing castles might be kinda cool. Thanks for bringing that up. I'm pretty sure most of Europe is a fun place to visit. I just like choosing places where there is more cultural and nature diversity from where i live. And i feel i can get much more of that by exploring other parts of the globe.
Yeah I hear that. I think that's why I liked Denver so much, it was just so similar to what I'm used to. City was actually clean but then head to foothills and I was like yeah, this is the place, this is home to me. Then walk to Buffalo Bill grave etc. Bit of a hike, but was all pretty awesome Denver in general remind me much like Munich. But there was also some beautiful spots in the southern states like the Smokey mountains and stuff, meeting the guy in Tennessee thay took us up in the mountains to a shack that distilled moonshine. Virginian mountains too were good.
plans no. but i might migrate somewhere perminently. if i ever actually do this one more time in my life, it will probably be the last chance i ever get to do so. of course if my pension were ever to get a real cost of living increase, proportional what what costs of living, even just rent and groceries have actually increased, then i might once again start thinking about it.
same. although i am supposed to go to a carolina (i forget which one) in the fall for a pseudo reunion of my college gang.
I'm supposedly going to Ireland this year for my friend's wedding but he has a lot of health problems. Every time he plans to come down he gets sick and can't fly. Some kind of lung issues, he is always having surgeries. Not sure if they're going to postpone or not. Other than that, no travel plans really. Nowhere far anyway. My girl and I plan to go up to St. Augustine at some point. And I also want to see Key West, which is weird that I haven't since I've lived in Florida my entire life lol I really just want to see the polydactyl cats and the weird museums.
