The Prime Minister here in Australia has taken to paying off people smuggling boat Captains to stop the flood of Immigrants. If they do hit shore they are straight into a Detention center where they stay until processed. I do not agree with the detention centers, BUT agree that you just can't "show up"in a new country and expect handouts from said Gov't. This is not the early settlement times.

Aus was actually a convict state. It is interesting seeing the old prisons and watch post from back in the day and can visualize that it was not fun. Not much has changed just the technology in detention centers and prisons.

Islam extremists seem to be the start of the worlds end and thank the CIA and MI6 and Mossad etc etc who funded these guys

in the u.s. its white supremists who get away with pulling that horse shit.

"According to the report by the research center New America, 26 people have been killed in jihadist violence in the U.S. since 9/11, but 48 people have been killed in attacks by right-wing groups. Despite the intense focus by the Obama administration on Muslim communities, non-Muslims have carried out 19 terrorist attacks since September 11, 2001, while Muslims have been responsible for only seven."

It is that way. And it is very important to realize. Now, there are boundaries of course, but a person's cultural, social or religious affiliation shouldn't be one. Not just on itself.

Your first mistake is your belief in American exceptionalism.

Your second mistake is your belief that you aren't racist. This is like judging Christianity by Westborough.

What does being white have to do with this? Surely you don't think there are vast differences between the democrats and republicans. They are two sides of the same country club and the citizens are only cattle to them. This idea lately that republicans are all a bunch of evil white racists is a lie. I realize it has been repeated constantly, but it's still a lie.

I don't like discussing race much on hip forums because most of the discussion is driven by people spouting lies like this. Lies are toxic. Sure, it's nice to think that one side is better than the other, but you really have to take a step back and see what sort of things they are saying about each other. If you fall into the trap of actually picking a side, they will insist you buy their story entirely. Which turns people into fanatics instead of informed voters.

I see people celebrating the Supreme Court's decision on gay marriage. Government shouldn't be in marriage at all. So what's to celebrate? The courts gave them a right that the government really doesn't have the right to regulate. This is just 1 example of the kinds of control games the government plays on the citizens. Have you ever considered why they took control of marriage in the first place?

It was to prevent former slaves from marrying white people. Also, Lincoln's emancipation proclamation didn't free all the slaves. It only freed the ones in the south who he couldn't do anything for. It was a political stunt, nothing more. Lincoln didn't free the slaves in the Northern states with that. Someone else had to do it after he was murdered. So many misconceptions are driving today's rhetoric and it's creating a wedge in our society that otherwise might not be there.

this is what greed is good FOR: turning a beautiful, moderately dangerous, natural wilderness, into a hundred times more dangerous, appallingly ugly, urban slum.

as for 'everyone' picking on the poor misunderstood republicans, being born to privalege so they don't have to think, isn't even the real problem, its imposing their illogic on everyone else that is.

today with the gay marriage thing. one little piece of that illogic got tossed out.

in and of itself, its not that big of a thing to me. but what is valuable to me about it, is being step in the right direction.

its not that republicrats, or comslurvatives generally, are dumb as such, its that what they bitch about, is exactly what they do themselves, and nine times out of ten, it is themselves and only themselves who are doing it. and its not like they aren't aware of this either. they do it deliberately and its their favorite political ploy to do so.

logical decisions are extremely rare in politics of any kind. when they do occur, they ted to get tarred with the brush of "socialism". as if refusing to put the worship of symbolic wealth ahead of all else, even the survival of the human species, were somehow a bad thing.
as if the worship of symbolic wealth were somehow a tradition of the national character. as if the so called traditions of the so called national character, weren't themselves a lack of moral character to begin with.
