Barf... If by psychedelic you mean on a 3 day meth binge and going insane, sure lol. The album just sounds insane, and FWIU it reflects miles state of mind at the time he recorded it too.

Pharoah's Dance is the only one I like from that album, the rest of it sucks. I hate when he played that fuckin trumpet like he was a master at it or something!

That's just not true. The music was unconventional and maybe you're not able to appreciate it, but it's good stuff. It has alot of dissonances and stuff that isn't in other types of music, but it's jazz, man. I understand it's hard for alot of people to enjoy this stuff, but it doesn't suck at all.

Well, it probably has something to do with the fact that he was a godamn good trumpet player.

Do you mean it reflects him being high or it reflects something wrong he had going on mentally?

If you mean it relfected him being high, so what? Plenty of great albums were made by junkies and musicians high on something.

Thanks, jazz master of the universe. I know what jazz is, and I have heard that album a million times and used to even enjoy it at one point, but the more you hear it, the more you realize that I could have made that album at the drop of a hat. Miles was so close minded when it came to jazz that it made him loook like an ass. He even went so far as to state that Don Cherry didnt know how to play trumpet, only that he played notes really loud and looked enthusiastic and serious about it, and people fell for it, especially white people. Nice guy, huh?

lol, you're talking to a major deadhead, and as there are plenty of great albums that are the products of drug-induced creativity, there is also lots of garbage. Bitches brew is the product of a drugged-out sleep-deprived cluster fuck with no organization whatsoever. Sure, musical wizardry should be appreciated, but the absence of groove and/or direction (at points) steers me away from shit like that.

And yes, relayer, miles was quite the bitch... some of the stories about him are fucking hilarious.

Yea miles was a bitch hahaha. Dont you love it when people automatically assume that they are superior music listners to you by claiming that you may not understand something? Shit, kid's like 14, why even waste my time, I remember when I was that age and thought no one could understand me.

lol, you mean you weren't a master of jazz at 14? Dam, what's wrong with you dude? :p

Besides that, this quote is priceless:

"That's just not true. The music was unconventional and maybe you're not able to appreciate it, but it's good stuff. It has alot of dissonances and stuff that isn't in other types of music, but it's jazz, man. I understand it's hard for alot of people to enjoy this stuff, but it doesn't suck at all."

lol, talking like you have a huge view of the musical climate of the late 60s. Dissonance = Ugly Sound. I can't enjoy music that sounds ugly, no matter how advanced it is, or no matter how much of an influential piece of art it is.

lol, "it's jazz man. I understand it's hard for a lot of people to enjoy this stuff."

ROFL IDK I just find that one line so hilarious in the context of a 14 year old girl talking to relayer. I can't help but laugh. All this talk about jazz.. gonna throw on some jimmy smith.

I never claimed to even know alot about jazz. I only said that I liked the album and that you may not be able to appreciate it because it has alot of dissonaces and alot of people don't appreciate "ugly sound".

    Yeah, alright, that's just ridiculous.

Just because you said you liked one song on the album doesn't mean you understand the music. I also feel the need to tell you to shut the fuck up because you are a 20 year old who watchs Sailor Moon.

Dissonance does not necessarily equal ugly sound. All I ever said was that I could understand you not liking the music, but that it wasn't just some piece of shit and then all you give me is "Shut up, you're 14, you know nothing!"

Also, I never tried to say that Miles Davis was genius or even a good person and then you say that Miles Davis was a bitch because he was close minded. I understand that he could be an asshole but that has nothing to do with his music. It just seems like you guys think I'm trying to defend Miles Davis and say he's a god or something.

Hey you warranted the response you got, sorry. I don't think you're defending anyone, and I think the way miles was is actually pretty fuckin hilarious. I mean, he was a serious junkie, and some of his quotes are fuckin priceless if you take a look at his autobiography.

See you get responses like you did because a problem with young people is that they are normally still constrained by what they are taught. Although your opinion can be regarded as YOURS, you may find that as you get older your opinions differ more and more from what you were taught.

Take what I've said for what it is, and what it is not most definitely is an insult.
