PJ Harvey, Ani diFranco and Björk are my favourites. I'm just listening to Björk's Medulla and it's just such a beautiful album. :D

You're refering to Midnight Creeps I presume?
Her style, I think, is kind of similar to Jim Dandy Mangrum of Black Oak Arkansas whom also has a powerful, gritty delivery.

And I was wondering if Wendy O. will be mentioned. I was blown away by The Plasmatics without attending a live show. (thanks to City TV's The New Music)

finally someone mentions edie brickell! i LOVE her.
and i can't really think of any that haven't been mentioned. Bjork, Natalie Merchant, Ani D, Kim Deal and PJ Harvey are all worth mentioning again though:)
Cat Power is also worth a mention unless someone already did. oh and Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star.......

I heard Otep on Chronix Aggression internet music station, they were playing Sacrilege and I was thinking it was a guy doing the deep growling vocals, but I checked out one of the live videos and was like whoa!( for a lack of a better word at the time). I already like her vocals before but I think I fell in love with her at that moment. I've heard kittie before but Otep just sounds so damn good!!
