For me, it has got to be Vince LeBarde. Extremely talented innovator of electronic psychedelic music with so many diverse styles - it is practically impossible to categorise his music in one genre. He's a guy from switzerland and he produces/has produced under the names "Electrypnose", "Cerebral Factory", "Minimum" (trip-hop side-project) - as well as doing collaborations with many others and also remixing tunes by many artists and doing a dam fine job of it, too. He's also created an audio sound engineering company called "Intellinoise" (it's solo project IS "Electrypnose") - which, amongst other things, organises primitif-workshop sessions and manages the independent "2to6 Records" label.. and on top of all THAT, he's created a website called "FreeQTechno" to offer the possibility to artists to share their music with the listeners. Vince LeBarde is an absolute Genius. http://www.electrypnose.com/ http://www.intellinoise.com/main http://www.primitif-workshop.com/ http://www.2to6records.com/ http://www.freeqtechno.com/
I don't know enough about this genre of music to even know of an artist. I do like the music though, so I just wanted to ask who you would recommend the highest and check him out.
the first time i listened to infected mushroom i was really disappointed, i thought to myself, what is this gay ass pseudo nu metal shit? maybe i should check out their debut though
Well in the case of my favourite artist, you should click this link to journey through the many styles of electrypnose.. http://www.electrypnose.com/index.php?page=listen
yeah definitely, there are some gems in the infected mushroom back catalogue.. they've done what no psy artist should ever do now though.. SOLD OUT (and it shows!!)
essential dark psy to hear right now : Witch - producer from germany. very spooky fun stuff. a lot of faster and creepy elements. nighttime outdoor goodness. all festival sets should have a witch track or two in them this summer Ocelot- what can i say. the man is just so versatile and his music shows it. he works with many different styles so in his dark psytrance you can hear more influences than the usual. very unique style. Facehead - murderous sounds. one of my favorite US producers. have seen this dude play here in texas and it was a very twisted set. lots of well placed screams and horror elements in his music. very fun and bouncy. Kundalini Project - newer producer who's first album just came out. very deep very subdued almost. so good for trancing out to its just a very tribal and shamanic music and focuses a lot more on percussive and ambient elements. i like to put these tracks in the deepest parts of the set when its intense trance dance time. Kashyyk faster stuff but very good. bubbly and very futuristic cosmic sounding psy. Psykovsky - genius. just all out psychedelic masterpieces. his project with Kindzaza called OSUM is fucking insane although its kind of a secret right now. unless of course you saw them live in the mojave desert when the spaceship landed. at least the cats out of the bag in other star systems.
I've got a lot of material by Witch, Ocelot, Kashyyyk and Psykovsky; have yet to hear Facehead and Kundalini Project, but judging by the quality of your other recommendations I will definitely be checking them out..
dunno much about dark psy but I have friends who are totally into it and the one can't stop about kindzadza and the other one is totally crazy about wizack twizack....
