I think the work you are looking for is "bakery." Also, I've been on a Phantom of the Opera kick lately--I've seen it live a few times, but can't afford to go see it at the moment. I'm content watching Youtube videos of past performances. Do you like that one?
I could not go to a concert alone. I could probably fare all right at a concert alone if I had a few drinks but I only drink around people I trust. I don't have a problem going out to eat alone sometimes and I love traveling and exploring new places by myself.

for going on walks and hikes, i sometimes prefer to be alone. but i feel pretty awkward if i go to a concert alone. that's what i might end up doing though. my one friend is busy studying...another says he's too broke. ...and that's about all of my friends hahah i could ask some work friends...but they aren't that much fun. maybe i'll call a good friend from my hometown. see if he wants to come visit, but that's a long shot.
It's with their first vocalist, before Bruce Dickinson joined them. Personally I have enjoyed those albums a lot but I don't get quite as estatic about it anymore either. Still, far from awful (and the best instrumental stuff is to come later on)!
I can see how the music took talent to produce, but something about that electric guitar just grates on my soul. Oh man, I'm trying to listen to the last half of the song. :dizzy2:
I though bakery was a place where one just buys something, and then takes it and eats outside. I didn't realize there were tables and all that. Cool. It's okay. To me it's one of those things you see once and then don't anymore. I guess it doesn't bring any emotion in me. But please, don't watch the movie, it's horrendous. With a friend.
I go to concerts by myself. I don't like going to the concerts that my wife likes, she doesn't like the music I like. I get a seat by myself up a little higher so I'm all by myself. If others sit around me, I find a section that is empty and sit there.
Sort of. Some bakeries have tables and serve coffee and things like that. Others you just buy something and leave. But that is the closest thing I can think of to what you described. Other than a coffee house--which just serves coffee and sometimes sweets. Usually, we just use the umbrella term "cafe" for any place to buy coffee, sweets, pastries, sometimes sandwiches.
I went to a rap/hip hop concert once. I felt like an awkward alien xD However I do keep toying with the idea of going to a music festival, but yeah...no.
Some people just can't stand the sound of a particular instrument. Mozart seemed to disliked trumpets for instance. Atmospheres at a concert can really differ per kind of music too. I can imagine the hip hop atmosphere does not appeal to you at all. Same with music festivals, it can differ so much. Some are mainly about intensive partying but you also have more artsy, folky or pretty much chill/lounge stuff. The bigger ones like Glastonbury or Sziget are quite diverse but the intensive party atmosphere is usually most prevalent.
Also, comedy clubs are growing in popularity around here. I've been a few times. You can see most of the same people on TV and online, but it really is better in a live setting with an enthusiastic audience. Stand-up is the funniest, but I'm so impressed with people who can do improv. That's such a demanding specialty. Not for dummies. Fantastic! I saw it in Charlotte, at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. That's the best place to catch Broadway road shows in NC. That was the year Ted Keegan was The Phantom on the road show, and he was incredible. I keep trying to catch Wicked there, but I have a schedule conflict every time it's in town.
this venue is pretty small, so there are only a handful of chairs. no seats like an auditorium. i convinced my one buddy and his girlfriend to go with me. sweet
My feeling with improv comedy: very difficult and hard to be funny out of the blue and under pressure, so generally not funny at all... The dutch have a love for and so some very good stand up comedians (we call them cabaretiers and they generally have a show of at least an hour, instead of the stand up comedy clubs where you can have 3 comedians in a row in an hour). Wicked seems really popular here as well. I do not get the appeal of such musicals...
"Dessertery" is a term for that which is used locally. I don't know how common it is. Standing up for hours, getting too much sun, standing in line for portable toilets... doesn't sound like fun to me. I like the atmosphere in blues clubs. Some jazz clubs can feel a little stiff and pretentious, but not always.
