Hmm, I must add that everything of course has it's time and place. This era serves many purposes. It's excellent for example suffering (Karma burning so to say) and experiencing difficulties, finding out your strenghts and how much you can suffer without breaking down.. So it is right and good in my opinion to live fully wherever or whenever we live, using the opportunities and trying our best. Still, I think it's only natural - perhaps as part of the suffering - to wish that things would be well and look at the time when so many things were (for a short while) well for some people even on this planet. The missing also serves a purpose in this time. You couldn't miss the 60's when you were in the 60's. Only now that things are so bad you can truly miss the 60's so well. Of course, an informed being can also miss other eras on this planet when things had a some kind of 'golden era' in what happiness and real freedom is concerned. For example ancient egypt - and I mean the first era of the ancient egypt that the people today know so little about (almost nothing important). Another example is one part of the era of Atlantis. And even more informed person can have the ability to miss other planets, where things are still better than they were for the hippies in the best years of the 60's. Similar principles are put to practise every day and night. Then if you are even a bit more informed, you can also understand how wonderful the life "inbetween" naturally is. I mean astral plane/world, the 'place' (well, more like 'vibrational state/place' after 'death' and before 'birth'. There are lots of things to miss in these twisted times where more weapons and armament is manufactured every day, the control grid of the 'american shadow government', 'new world order', 'the power elite' or whatever you want to call it - tightens all the time.. I only dread those days when we will all be microchipped, and mind-controlled by that chip. Total enslavement.. we are not many steps away from that. If you talked about microchips in the 80's, you'd instantly be laughed at, labelled crazy or / and put in a mental institution. Nowadays it's all over the television how microchips are handy devices etc.. dogs are routinely microchipped now and nobody seems to notice how terrifying prospect this is. People see this just a normal everyday life. microchips are already everywhere, it's only a matter of time before they are implanted in everyone (instead of just prisoners, the elderly, newborn babies, animals, and volunteer families and volunteer politicians/celebrities).. We are living the most scary time of the whole human history. If even our dreams (for example of living in a better world, in the 60's, egypt, atlantis, other planets, astral world, or the future earth) are stripped away from us... what do we have left of our freedom then? I can't believe there are people here who actually want to stop people from dreaming and missing the good days and things and want to make them conform to the norm, get with the program, go with the mainstream flow, stop thinking and work themselves to exhaustion so some rich huge corporations can get richer and more powerful by exploiting hungry asian children as slave labor in horrible circumstances and upkeep the hunger and poverty in many countries. Please.. everyone who misses the 60's - miss freely, let yourself miss that era as much as your heart desires .. don't let anyone make you suppress that missing feeling! That's a good base to build a better world on. Always remember the 60's and try to live the ideologies true.. my humble request to humanity. Love (true -Love-) for all. - Vortac
I think we were put into this generation for a reason. The neo-hippie culture of today has a greater chance of changing the world, all we need to do is do it. We have just as much incentive (global warming, war in Iraq, ect), and more means through the internet (this site is a righteous example), all we need to do is do it.
We have long time ago reached a 'point of no return' .. now all we can do is try to ease the transformation and pain that will happen in a large scale soon .. and sit back and enjoy the ride, improve ourselves what we can and this planet as well - but there is no stopping or changing the direction anymore.. the changes would be too slow for this pace at this point.. - Vortac
Beatlemania234 - I apologize if I hurt your feelings by what I said; I responded in a reactionary way, and that was wrong. You are absolutely correct about Dylan preferring analog over digital recordings because a lot of the sound is lost. I think part of what was going on with me is that I'm only ten years younger than Dylan, and if I think of Dylan as old, then that means that I'm old, and I don't think of myself that way; you know what I mean? I am blessed with good genetics that results in good general health, so I still feel really good physically and mentally; despite the fact that I don't strive to foster good health; so I don't feel old yet. I gotta go now. Sorry, Beatlemania234 ...... hope we can be friends. Sincere Regards, Michaela ____________________________________ "They will never make a perfect heart until they make one that can't be broken." ____________________________________
well, you would had to have been born in the late forties/early fifties in order to appreciate and live through the sixties. my dad graduated high school in 1969 AND went to woodstock. how far out is that?
People sometimes have the wrong view of the 60's and 70's, people seem to believe there were no laws, everyone was no drugs and nobody ever died because everyone was immortal, there were no wars in that time, and everyone was nice to eachother and live happily ever after in peace.......................WRONG, yes there was a ton of drug use and yes people were pretty happy................when they were fucked up on acid or when they smoked heroin but do you know what happened when they weren't on drugs...........they killed and looted for the very drugs that created the addiction and violence. Life wasn't all that great when you really think about it, Vietnam war, the draft, racism and segregation. If you were black in the 60's life was pretty horrible, jim crowe laws, kkk ravaging churches and homes......think about it..........life was a lot better for the white man......
You are talking as if those things are not happening now anymore and this age would somehow be better than 60's. It's not. Both ages have the same problems, but the 60's had a short flash of pure magic that this age can't even imagine. - Vortac
How I look at this era is a detox period - sometimes the crap needs to be got rid of. Hopefully we'll be able to move on fairly soon (although the "Age of Aquarius" isn't actually until 2100 or so). Sometimes the bad times are necessary so we can appreciate the good times more. Once we remove the "toxins" from our society - rampant capitalism, neo-conservativism (unlike most I believe Bush is just a figurehead; the Man is a hydra, chop off one head and another will take it's place, we need to strike at the root), drug abuse (note I didn't say drug USE - use is fine, but all things in moderation). A healthy society needs healthy members, so removing the toxins from our own bodies as well as our society is very important (the main reason why I went into alternative medicine). Just a side rant: it's not an "alternative", it should be the first bloody port of call, doctors fuck up more than they help in my opinion. Anyway. The 60s. Great time, but the past is the past. We need to learn from the 60s and make the kind of world the first hippies dreamed of today.
I would have loved to live in the sixties. There was sooooo much love and understanding in that time. We had all the momentum, we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. Now in this time of the world people just don't care about anything but themselves, their possessions, and their ever so important schedule. People are traping their mind and body in their routines. People need to express themselves and be able to express themselves without being ridiculed. Everybody needs to let go of everything every now and then. Not themselves or their goals go, but their worrys, fears, and prejudism to cultures, appearance, and beliefs. I doubt that the world will return to its sixties time, but if everybody tries to express themselves, we might come closer to a happy medium. Remember He who makes a beast of himself Gets rid of the pain of being a man. Dr. Johnson Peace to everybody. Enjoy life. Justin I.
Its not enough to have been born in the 60's but to have grown up in that era. I was born in 67 and from what I understand it was a horrible time for hippies and the world in general. But hey I love your baked rant man... Keep on tokin bro, and hit it once for me!!! arty:
salmon4me it would have been totally worth it to live in the 60s peace remember He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man. Dr. Johnson
Cheif cowpie there is no god. just us people. we have acomplished alot. god gets all the credit. REMEMBER He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man. Dr. Johnson Peace
I would like to be born in late 40's or early 50's so I' d be a teenager in mid 60's.. Oh, how I wish I was born in Sixties..
you've got it right! my much younger brother is still pissed off at my mom for having him in 1962...he really missed most of what you think of as the 60's. he was too young to know much about what was going on at the time. though i don't love being this old now, i always feel like i was the perfect age for everything that happened then. i was old enough to participate in all of it. as they say "timing is everything". so true.
Indeed. And what if all you hippies of today could be born in the sixties? Then there would be no-one to save the world now at all. That would be a nice prospect for the future, wouldn't it?
