On a side note, how are those prayers to end world hunger and bring about world peace coming along? You Christians have been praying for those 2 things all of my life; so, how long does it take for your God to answer prayers?

Their philosophical fragmentation is not their fault but G-d's. He should have been more explicit in his steadfast instructions to his Jewish Herrenvolk. :)

Instead he (intentionally?) sowed the seeds of a veritable Babel of feuding Protestant sects, each insisting their interpretation of G-d's, most un-g-dlike, snivelling, carping catalogue of unwarranted victimhood - the raging alcoholic-like resentments he lists in his Wholly Vile Bill - are infallible.

G-d's ego problem wouldn't have been be possible if only he had crystal-balled A.A's Big Book and dealt with the papable resentments he has - a result of man's patently predictable petty disobedience in Eden - before he put goose quill to papyrus.

Now I don't want to sound Holier-than-Him, but G-d clearly has the Jewish disease of Vicarious Victimhood. However if he is humble enough to contact me personally I'm willing to sponsor him and walk through the 12 Steps, which will rid him of his conspicuous narcissism. :sultan::wink:

These PHARASAICAL public prayers are mere look-how-decent-I-am window dressing. In the private of their bedrooms their prayers are all based on self.

    I believe that,

An intuitive sense of justice guides us to logic,
Logic then guides us in understanding a sense of justice,
Our understanding may then be corrected by the original sense of justice (e.g. "Does it seem absurd?"),

And the cycle repeats toward the answer.

Do you think Hitler's sense of justice is logical? Absurd?
Does our sense of absurdity matter?
    Does logic matter?

Communism is inherently atheist, but communism is also, if it could work, the will of almost all of the people, so no one would have any qualms about choosing not to believe. But that's now how religion or communism works.

    in his mind, yes

i largely disagree, though in at least one particular i agree with him, i.e. the versailles peace treaty

so even when dealing with those you consider madmen, you may find that even they have a just position

    You seem to value:

    Clarity over confusion,
    Fairness over unfairness.
    Certainty over speculation,
And you seem to think others should do the same.

    Am I misinterpreting you?

What would you have done about that which seemed confusing, unfair, or speculative to you?

i can do almost nothing about almost everything

basically i try to avoid unfairness - i try to be fair and stay the hell away from those that are not

confusion and speculation are acceptable in small doses, but i've already had enough to last several lifetimes . . .

We can all agree, given that the Soviet Union had imploded and that the following persons contributed to it, that Putin, Yeltsin, Gorbachev and Primakov are children of God. That is logic corollary to succeeding events. Even Raul and Fidel Castro I believe are children of God. "YOu can know one by his fruits and by the words coming out of his mouth".

we are either all of us children of god or none of us is

since none of us can agree whether there is a god or not, or what the nature of god is . . .

i prefer to think that we are the children of man and woman

My criteria of a good child of God lay on one's humanitarian sympathies for the poor and exploited. When "Jesus Christ" drove away the market vendors from the Jewish synagogues" one can come to the conclusion that God is not in favor of capitalism. Why else would he order his only Son to drive them away from the synagogues? Fidel and Raul Castro are good children of God...I am sure! 100% sure. You can know one by his fruits and by the words coming out of his mouth..The parasitic imperialilst capitalist state of USA does not have the sympathy Fidel has when he dictated to artists that blacks be trained to be ballet dancers..You won't see these things in capitalistic European or Western states..That is living proof that good is good!!

you say the castros are good

    others say they are evil

i'm somewhere in the middle, tending towards good

but what does any of that have to do with god?

I'm glad you confront unfairness, confusion, and speculation in these forums, even though it is a sacrifice for you. I hope you continue.

I think you do more than a little about at least some.

You won't see this in "European or Western states" because we don't have dictators who "dictate" that people be trained for anything. Here we leave such things to the individual, including whether or not we choose to be called a "child of god." Personally, I see it as egocentricity, but many atheists feel insulted when called such names.

To say that I am a "child of god" is to classify me as a Christian, which I do not want. My motivation for justice, charity and kindness is purely my own. As an atheist, I am not required to love my fellow man, I do so because it is the right thing to do, not as a result of dictates from a god who I believe does not exist. I prefer to be judged for my deeds and motivations, not your beliefs in the supernatural.

This thread really needs to define what Communism is/isn't.

As it is, Communism is anything the average American serf hates/fears/dislikes. America's complete domination of the global media then ensures this becomes the universal definition of Communism. So much so that any criticism of Americans whatsoever gets you universally branded as a “Guard damn Christ-denyin' C-a-r-mmunist* - even in Guard-forsaken places like Australia. Whereas I and many others see Communism as, initially, an impressive experiment in social engineering (a naughty word these days) that was strangled in it's cradle by human greed and paranoia, by both sides of the right-left political divide within and outside of revolutionary Russia

(Coincidently, bearded brown-skinned Middle Easterner's insolent resistance to the imposition of contemporary carpet-bagging Pox Americana in their countries by American's Calvinazi organ grinders has meant their natural response to being robbed, raped, and murdered has spawned ecumenical, equally sanctimonious anti-Muslimism. But that's another story. Or is it?)

*have you ever hear anyone/anything being called a Communist/ism without the qualifier “god-damn atheist/ic”? :patriot:

If we are certain that religion and a concept of "God" (or "god")
Is clearly unfair and lacks any value for anyone in society,

(Perhaps we could even say that these are objectively and intrinsically evil,)

Then we should exterminate religion and a concept of "God,"
Including those who would refuse to stop living out their religion?

Exactly why are we disagreeing with Hitler?

    Should we reject fanaticism?
    Is fanaticism absurd?
